Behind the Mic

Opening Remarks

Hello. Hello, everyone. I hope you're having a fantastic day. Sorry if my voice sounds a bit weird. I'm sitting in the studio right now and I don't know if it's going to be clear. I might need to move in due to the wifi, but we'll see. But Sarah is upstage. Lovely co host. Thank you so much for joining. Sarah. Monkey zoo, crazy jacks in the house, Andrew, Steve, nice to see you all. Please share the room. We're going to have some fun. We're going to catch up on what you've been doing and highlight some of the projects in the web three space, as well as talk about what's new and what's exciting and what's the latest news, as we always do. So stick around and have some fun with us today.

Introduction of Sarah and Catch Up

So, Sarah, welcome. It's been a while. Every time we host this space, it feels like such a long time and we get to catch up again. But how's it going with you? It is going well. And I will tell you, I am so giddy that you're back in the studio. I'm very proud of you. I was seeing your carving in general on your timeline and I was smiling, just smiling ear to earth. it just makes me so happy. I, I actually acquired a, hundred year printing press yesterday. I have to go pick it up next week. So I was really thankful that it wasn't this week because I, I didn't want to have spaces while I was driving around.

Exciting New Projects

But, printing, there's something very special about it. And, my latest build, I'm following in the footsteps of Gwen frostic. And so, I'm building out this maker space and it all is tying together because it's all in kind of lockstep with the lunar mission. Later on we got our official window. So everything is on board the lunar lander and the launch window is actually later. It's in between December 12 and December 20. So that's the official from SpaceX and from NASA. And so it's becoming real and having to get all of that done in the interim. And then I had a really other kind of big news. Monkey zoo, actually. He's a speaker right now. They updated their website and they have a little figure of Sarah and I get to help them with their project. And so I, I'm just so honored about that.

Reflections on the Events and Community

And so that has to be finished sooner than later. Working on things for him too. But I want to make sure all the pieces are in place so that we can also you know, have them preserved for posterity and. And whatnot. But I'm really excited about those kinds of things. It's been. Been a very eventful week and month, I should say, so I hope that my voice is okay. I'm a little groggy. We had spaces last night teaching some AI tricks of the trade, and I don't know, it's just so crazy how AI, the things that we dreamed up 20 years ago, I never thought in a million years I would see in my lifetime. And not only am I seeing it's moving so much faster.

Recent Developments in AI

And talking with friends that are in the AI community, seeing Ben Gortzel's grace. Many people don't know that grace is the next Sophia. And you're just sitting back and thinking to yourself, I cannot believe that I'm on the timeline of history with such incredible stuff. I did bring crazy Jack up hash lips so we can say hi to him, and then he'll. He'll say hi to everybody, and then I think, do the crazy jack thing. He was a part of all of the flooding and whatnot that's happened in the United States. He saw some down trees and things, and I. Our friend Vicki, that I don't know if. I'm pretty sure you know, Vicki, her store was completely underwater, and the recession of the waters has just left tons of mud.

Concerns Amid Flooding

Her entire store is just trashed. And hopefully it'll be fixed. But it's hard to have an ice cream shop when the rest of the town is gone. And so I'm worried about her and what that means for her family and her ability to stay in the United States. So it's always one of those things that you think of, and you're just thankful for each day. Each day is a total blessing. And. Yeah, so that's about it. Mister hash lips, I have nothing else cool to report, but how have you been? I've missed you. I've been fantastic, sir. I'm glad to hear that you're getting this beautiful press.

Final Thoughts and Personal Updates

That is exciting. 10 zero year old press. You must please send us some photos of that. I love the old machinery and the way that, you know, these things just last. They don't die, they just don't break. They just like machines that last forever in your studio. So, yeah, I've got my place here right next to me. I'm busy sitting and drawing out a new piece. And, yes, from my side, I've just been busy creating, actually. I've been making the art engine, spending quite a lot of time on that. And you're right, I've got back into the studio and started making stuff. I wasn't so sure about recording it, you know, so.

Creative Process and Future Plans

Because I've always been making behind the scenes art, but I must say that thinking about how I did the educational videos and the reason why behind it kind of is the same for me with the creating the art, right? So I would love to see how it progresses, the style that I do, the kind of like a recording of how I create art for me to maybe look at when I'm old, right. So I thought to myself, let me actually capture this as I create some pieces. And I'm actually busy working on, what do you call it, an exhibition. Right. Theme. So I'm planning on having an exhibition next year, but for now I was just focusing on homing into the skills again because I haven't done liner cut in such a long time.

Exploration of Art Techniques and Tools

And, you know, I go down these rabbit holes. So for now, my rabbit hole is I find a tool and then I find new tools and then my tools are dull and I try to sharpen them and then I'm like, no, I want to make some tools right now. So it's just this dark rabbit hole where, you know, even down to the paper making. Should I make my own paper, is it? You know, because we do have fantastic cabriano and honeymoon paper here in South Africa that we can get which is sourced across, you know, overseas from overseas. But I think there's something very special in making everything down to your own paint.

Skill Development and Excitement

So, yeah, I've just been doing that, but mostly just homing in on the skills, Lino. Cutting, practicing, practicing and making some cool little videos along with that. That's what I'm also doing tonight as well. So just been relaxed on my side. But yeah, I'm very excited for you with the breeze and it's. So sorry about the flood. So it was quite hectic, the flood. It seems it affected quite a lot of people.

Reflections on Natural Disasters

It's unbelievable. I mean, when you follow the track of the storm. But the dirty side of a hurricane is where the flooding and the mud comes. And, you know, thankfully, I've never been through a hurricane. Lots of tornadoes and some other, you know, natural disasters. But hurricane is not one of the things that I can check a box off of. But, you know, it is, you know, when you think about just life in general and the flip of a switch of mother nature, throwing a temper tantrum, you know, everything that you have is immediately, you know, you have a crystal clarity, you know, one hierarchy of. Of things, your life and then your stuff, you know, and the things that truly matter.

The Impact of Hurricanes

And, you know, folks that haven't been able to come back to their houses, you know, they're coming back to their houses and they realize, huh, saltwater has made my, you know, doors shut, and I can't open them because they're all electric. If you had an electric golf cart or an electric car, you know, saltwater hits those batteries and, you know, it goes up. So your house might have been spared, but then a fire knocks it out. It's just, you know, and I. You think about all of the lives that are going to be irreparably changed. The cities are gone. Some of these cities, and some of them are very old cities.

The Role of Storytelling in Recovery

And so this is the time I know the silver lining is where the storytellers come in. And I know that sounds kind of odd, but to document the stories and try to capture that information before it. Leaves. When you have an old town that is just wiped off the face of the map, and you have the old timers come in, and they're the ones that get to tell you about who was there and how long it was built. And, you know, I hope that wisdom is saved. You know, our friend Brian Ramal has a project called saved Wisdom, and it really is true.

Preserving Knowledge and Collective Wisdom

Right now, we're losing more websites each day than the ones that we're creating. Old information, microfiche stories, things like that are just being destroyed, and they're not coming back. And so the collective wisdom that we have as a people, as a humanity, are being lost. And so times like this put things into clarity, and you start thinking about what matters most. And a lot of times, that is just, you know, us collectively. And I think that's kind of a shining light because I can see it happening already on the timeline. And, you know, people are picking themselves up by their bootstraps.

Resilience and Human Spirit

And I will tell you, there's nothing more resilient than the human spirit and the ability to make cool things out of nothing. And that is one of humanity's superpowers, is that even in the darkest moments, you will have shining lights that rise up and fix things and mend things and build things, and it's just the way we are. It's in our DNA. And so you were talking about linocut. And one of the things about Linocut, I know this is kind of long and drawn out, but it's the art of edit, of taking away.

The Art of Life and Memory

Because when we're little, we all start with a blank slate. And as we get older, we're kind of chiseling away at this image of who we are. And, you know, there is an art form in taking away the stuff that doesn't matter, the fluff in our worlds, the things that, you know, cloud the image or add too much noise around us. And then at the end of our days, when we escape our mortal coil, when nothing else can be taken away, you're left with that final image. And that final image is what I imprints on those that are left behind.

Creating Your Own Narrative

And I think there's something very powerful about that. And when you add another layer of saying, hey, I'm going to make my own chisels, I'm not going to rely on somebody else to tell my story, or I'm not going to use, you know, somebody else's things. I'm going to make my own, and I'm going to have my own colors. Yeah, it's a very, it's very interesting how that all works out. And it is a very powerful metaphor of life itself, the art of mindful marking and that of the printmaker and storyteller.

Cleanup and Human Stories

So, yes, it is going to be an interesting cleanup, but I guarantee you there'll be some fun stories in the process of humans being human and doing cool things. So I think that's awesome. I do see that crazy Jack has his hand up and I just want to make sure to say hi to him while he's on stage and then I'm sure he'll go down and do his thing. But crazy Jack, how are you this morning? What would you like to say to hash lips on?

Engagement and Sharing Stories

I got a comfort. Grace Sherman Post Instagram. Oh, my goodness. Your hero commented on your post. Is that it? Yes, you did. Holy smokes, Batman. I'm so proud of you. I know how much that means to you. It is wonderful when someone that you admire responds to your work and to your post. She says, it's so epic. She says, so epic. So much excited. She said, so epic. Oh, my goodness. You should, you should take a screenshot and make sure you keep that.

Memories and Encouragement

Make sure you favorite it in your photo so that you can always see it. Okay. Got power? You got the power. You have a generator? Got power? Yep. You told me that you do have power in a generator. And you're safe, right? Yeah. The storm's gone. Trees are down. The trees are down and the road are down. Trees are down. Yeah. I saw some of the pictures.

Safety and Recovery After the Storm

But have you been able to get any groceries and gas for the generator yet? We're plenty gas and we have stuff to run it. That's very good. You stay safe because I know in the wake of a hurricane, it's very hard to clean up. And life as we know it will return back. But are you still with Tony? No. No, I just got home from Anthony and Savannah.

Safety and Communication

Well, you make sure to be safe. And if you need anything, you can always text. Okay, kiddo?

Expressing Love

Sarah. Sarah, you always do awesome things. Thank you, honey. I love you. To the moon and back. You be good.

Scheduling and Space Management

This is a Friday. Also Friday. Oh, did you put that up there? Yep. You have a space on Friday. I already marked that, so. Yes, definitely. I will make sure to listen in if I can.

Farewells and Well Wishes

Okay, Sarah, thanks so much. Bye, speedy. Have a great day.

Praise for Crazy Jack

Crazy Jack is wonderful. He really is. And I will tell you, if you have a crazy jack in your world, they are just the most amazing people.

Treasures and Lessons of Humanity

The fans that you never thought you had, they have loyal to a fault and just genuine in spirit. He's just a treasure of a human. And I think everyone who has a crazy jack in his world, he teaches us all how to better humans.

Growth and Resilience

I do believe, and I just adore the man. It's very cool to see him blossom on Twitter, just in general. And x spaces. He's learned so much in terms of how to communicate and how to be a part of the ecosystem.

Welcoming Spaces

And he's a real testament to resilience. A lot of people mistreated him, and I'm so thankful that each and every one of you in the space, when you have your spaces, you welcome him to your stage, because, you know, there are such amazing people in this world.

The Journey of Star Boss

Star boss is another one who learned how to talk in spaces. You know, she sat in and listened in for a year before she regained her voice as she was healing from her own injuries.

Listening and Sharing Stories

You know, you never know who's just sitting there and waiting to be brought up to hear their story. And you're always blessed. I guarantee it.

Technical Issues and Support

So, I see that Drac is trying to come up patch lips. I'll try to do that for you. Go ahead. Let's get Drac up here.

Speech and Comfort in Spaces

Sarah, it's so important what you said just now. Sorry, I'm busy drawing. I'm listening to crazy Jack. I'm listening to you.

Inclusivity in Spaces

What I wanted to say is that it's actually so true what you just said right now. You know, crazy jack coming up, having the courage to sit and chat with us.

The Importance of Safe Spaces

Like you say, Starburst. You know, a year and a half back, she didn't want to speak because she was afraid, you know, to even leave the house at some point, as she mentioned, you know, but she was afraid to speak on a public stage.

Encouragement to Speak Up

And now look at Starbucks, she's rocking it, right? But what I think is so important is that, you know, when you get to this space, right, whether it's to come as a collector, someone wants to, you know, trade and dabble in the crypto space, or if you are builder or someone is just curious.

Welcoming New Voices

I think it's so important for spaces like these to exist that we are doing where it's welcoming for people to come on stage. Anyone sitting in the listeners panel right now shouldn't feel scared at all to come on and say, hi, you know, I'm building this thing.

Openness to Questions

Or you know what, guys? I have a question about this. We might not always be able to help, but we can surely point you in the right direction, or we can just have a chat, you know, and make a new friend in the web three space.

Shared Interests and Understanding

Why this is important is because we all have a collective understanding and interest in the space, you know, whether it's for the technology or for various reasons. But the fact is, we hear we can.

Conversations Beyond the Norm

We can chat about cool things because you can't do this with your normal friends, right? So there's no need to sit and just listen.

Encouragement for Participation

If you want to have a chat with us and come on stage, and if you've never chatted on a space before and you always wanted to trust me, this is the space. You can do it.

Supportive Community Environment

We are not going to judge you at all. We're actually going to welcome you and we're going to support what you do.

Creating a Courageous Atmosphere

So, yeah, I just want to say that again, Sarah, because I know there's so many people out there who listen in these spaces, and I've been there way back.

Overcoming Fear of Speaking

I remember I was even very scared to speak on a space just because I was in the wrong spaces. First of all, I was in spaces where, you know, you go on, then you're in the hot seat.

Judgment in Other Spaces

Whatever you say, you're going to get judged on. So, yeah, you did. You do get those spaces.

Looking Back with Regret

But in spaces like these, you know, I wish I just had the courage back then to just go into every space and just chat.

An Invitation to Connect

But I just wanted to reiterate that for if there's someone new who wants to come and talk to us, see Nate joined as well.

Connecting with Others

So we're gonna hear from Nate soon. Monkey zoo, let's go to you. Let's find out.

Engaging with the Community

How's it going with you, man? I see there's a lot of awesome stuff happening.

Storytelling and Collaboration

And you say Sarah is also helping you with some storytelling, as I believe.

Community Greetings

Yeah. Hey, guys. Yeah, how are you all? I have problems in another space.

Trouble in Spaces

Oh, no, man. Sorry, monkey, I can't hear you.

Technical Suggestions

I think you'll need to do a LAPd. A monkey, I can hear you.

Communication Issues

I don't think that hash lips can hear you, so. And you're.

Final Thoughts

Yep, we'll see in a few. Okay. Yo, what's going on, boys?

Community Interaction

Can everyone hear me? And girls, of course. Yo, what's good, guys?

Sharing Personal Experiences

I usually go up on spaces, but I'm a bit of a djen, so I don't think I'll be.

Surprise Reactions

Really?

Appreciation and Lessons Learned

I don't think you guys be very bullish on me, but I just wanted to say, shout out, hash lips on time, bro. Thank you for the lessons, bro. You taught me so much. 2021 sitting down, trying to fucking generate some nfts watching those tutorials. That's the vibe, bro. Shout out. Let's go. You built this culture, bro.

Encouragement and Contributions

Yeah. Thanks, Nate. Well, we'll be all a little bit of a dj and here, so you're welcome, man. So you don't have to feel like you can't contribute. If you have some djing advice. You just, you know, let's not call it advice. If you have some degenerating things that you do, feel free to do, to speak about that if you want to. But I'm not going to say much.

Positive Market Sentiment

Time, but I'm just going to say higher. Higher. Definitely, man. Dude, to be honest. Right, we're going to go to monkey just now. He's coming up. But do you guys also feel it in the air? Like, I spoke about this the last time in this space, but it feels like a little bit of a, you know, positive atmosphere coming back. And I can tell it is coming back because I keep on seeing videos about XRP going to 100 million gazillion billion. Right?

Observations on the Cycle

But anyway, when I see these videos, I know. I know that there's some bull thing happening right now. And it's a nice. It's a nice thing to observe and be a part of again in this cycle. If it's going to be a big cycle, who knows? But one thing is what I wanted to do this cycle is if it is a bull run, is we really need to have more spaces. Once a month maybe might not suffice because when it is a bull run this time around, we really need to help onboard people in the right way, show them what to do, what not to do, so that less than these people get burnt by doing things that they shouldn't and they get to stay and stick around, right?

Building a Supportive Community

And we grow the web three community for the better. I always believe that it is a collaborative effort because if everyone thinks about themselves in this space, then it's just going to end up being you by yourself, right? So rather onboard people in a nice way, have them become part of great communities, have them learn, because you don't never know, you know. Nate says he's enjoyed the content, so Nate could have built the next layer two, who knows, right?

Future Endeavors and Community Growth

So it's always important to be nice to people and just on board them. So I think we'll have more spaces as the bull run comes, who knows? But Nate, you can tell us quickly before we go to monkey. Do you think a bull runs on its way or is it here? What's happening with the markets, man? I don't like to speculate really, but CZ is free, so I say the charts are going to go higher, bro.

Market Reactions

I saw that. Yeah, I saw that. I was like, man, only DJ's would celebrate Cz spring like that. He's pretty. He has risen. Yo, this is DJ and Easter boys. He has risen. Let's fucking go. Oh, man. Well, that's true. I mean, I really hope that it's going to be a very nice, I don't want to, I don't want it to be a euphoric bull run because then again, you know, two years down the line, it's all in the trenches, right?

Sustainability and Innovation

Again. So we need to think about how does this become sustainable? We've been through these cycles now, many different times, many different people have innovated, created. I mean, we've been here for three years on stage and just building, innovating, creating. Many creators in this space, listening in here right now, have devoted their time and energy tirelessly trying to build up a career or build up a brand or build themselves up or learn something or make a bit of money.

Stability and Adoption

And, you know, through this, all people come and go and they come and go and it feels to me like web three. For it to really be adopted, it needs to be very stable. We can't have these highs and these lows. Well, we can, but not in this hectic fashion. Right. Where it's almost known as it's being completely dead. Right. And then alive.

Focus on Education and Welcoming Attitudes

I think it's fine if it's just low and high, but to go from completely dead to high, I mean, that's a bit of a shock every time, and it discourages people from believing in the technology. Right. So I think we should focus on that this year. I think it's really important, the education we put out. And more important than education, Sarah, what you mentioned right in the beginning is being able to have open arms to help people, to invite people in, to really pay attention to what they are saying, to really invest your time into what they do, to help a hand or give out a helping hand.

Real-Life Examples of Support

Look at Altier. We always bring him up, but he's really a good example of how he not only helped himself at the end of the day, managing to get a job with the Arweave team, but also helped countless people and onboarded countless individuals. So it's just phenomenal people that new bees get to meet, and let's hope they come to our corner of the world.

Gathering Artisans in the Community

I want to gather all those artists and maybe hand them a Sketchy, make them a part of the community so we can grow. We can grow the creative space. Okay, so, sarah, sorry. Your Handler's up, monkey, we're going to go to you. Nate hopped off. I think he got very scared. He realized we're not all 2d Jenny, but he's more than welcome to come back. Okay, monkey, let's go to you, mandev.

Navigating Technical Challenges

Hash. I can hear you. Yes. Okay. I am going to leave this space, and then I will come back. Oh, dear. This is. Hold on tight, everyone. I'm leaving, and I'll come back. Okay, let's see. Hold on, everyone. I know, in case the space should happen to disappear, you can always find us with the purple halos, and another one will come up, but I think we're.

Space Resilience

We're okay. It sometimes happens that our.
