Behind the Mic

Introduction to Leyston

This is just a test. Don't get excited, people. Good afternoon. Lardies, lardets, lardlets, wherever you are in the world. And welcome to Leyston. Yes, it's Leyston. It's not Leeston, it's Lacedon. It's been confirmed by all the locals. Layston. And what an absolutely lovely spot Layston is in the beautiful county of Suffolk, close to the coast, about 20 miles or so northeast of Ipswich. Long old haul to get here, but a very straightforward journey. And it's a lovely place. An incredibly friendly, welcoming club. So those of you who can't be here today, I'm hoping that you'll get a feel for just what a pleasant place this is. As we go through the afternoon, I'm Charlie Hempstead, alongside me is Matt Jones and between us, we will be bringing you this FA trophy, third qualifying round match.

Overview of Teams

From the home side's point of view, Layston, it's just the one change from the side that very impressively knocked Hornchurch out of the FA cup in mid week. And for the Hornets, it's all change. So we will then go through those changes for Horsham in a minute. But we'll start with our hosts in goal, Billy Johnson, in his first full season for the club having previously played National League south football for Hemel, Hempstead and Kettering Town. So right back is Ollie Yuen, previously at Burytown, signed in the summer for Layston. The left back is Ben Batho, who came through the youth ranks in his first season here in the first team. Centre back and captain is Chiron Clements, previously at Bishop Stortford, Brain free Town where he was also the captain.

Details of Layston Players

He re signed for the club in the summer, having previously been here. The other centre back is Eddie Jackson, who was named man of the match in that impressive win against Horn Church. He's a product of the Norwich City academy and you'll hear that a lot as we go through the squad. Given where we are in the world, pretty much everybody started either at Norwich or at Ipswich. Number seven ismael Fatajo. He came from Kingsleyn Town, signed in the summer. He also, interestingly, had a loan spell at our next opponents in a cup competition. No, our second next opponent in the cup competition, Gallston Town. He had a loan spell at Galston last year. Played 14 times, scored 14 goals. So he's obviously a dangerous customer.

Further Player Information

Number eight is Fraser Alexander. He started his career at Ipswich Town, went out to Cheshunt on loan when they were in the National League south and then to Bishop Stortford when they were in national League. So he is another player with good experience at a high level. Number nine is Ben Fowkes. Started off at Felixstowe and Walton played it for other teams locally and one of those is Peterborough Sports, who of course we know well from this competition last year. Number ten is George Quantrell, who has played over 100 times for the Blues, having started his career. Also at number eleven, Jamal Lohse. He's got both of the second half goals, sorry, the extra time goals that took the Blues to victory against Hornchurch. He's in the starting lineup.

Tactical Changes and Substitutes

The only change, he came off the bench to score those two goals on Tuesday night. He is a full jamaican international with four caps and he made six appearances for Norwich's first team early in his career. So a player with a lot of pedigree. And the starting lineup is completed by number 14, Harley Curtis, who is a local lad just coming through into the ranks. Substitutes for Layston are Mitchell Jackson, Cameron Raworth, Ethan Oldman and the Jarvis brothers. Ryan Jarvis and Rossi Jarvis both played for Norwich City. And those of you who like your stats, may you possibly remember that name. Ryan Jarvis. He was Norwich City's youngest ever player, made a first team debut at the age of 16 and he also scored a goal in the Premier League against Liverpool.

Coaching and Team Gaps

And he can't even get into Layston's first team so they could be a bit handy. He is now knocking on a little bit, I think it would be fair to say, and he is now player coach and he is the player who's dropped out of the starting lineup with Jamal Ozer coming in. So for Horsham I mentioned there's been a lot of changes and let's take a look at that lineup. So in goal, Lewis Carey, write back Jake Elliott or according to the official team sheet because these are the names that are registered with the league. John Elliot, centre backs Isaac Philpott and Jack Strange, left back. Well, we'll talk about the formation in a little bit because it's not entirely clear, so let's just go through the names.

Horsham Players and Formation Insights

So Jack Strange, Olajuwon Ogunwamede, but Ola's that much easier. Joseph Turner, Joel Daly, Lucas Santos Rodrigues Reese, Miles Meakams, Montel Agemang and captain for the day, Lee Harding. So what that will tell you, if Lee's the captain is that both Jack Brivio and James Hammond are on the bench alongside Shamir Fenelon. Dan Ajahkai, for whom today will be his hundredth appearance in the yellow and the greenhouse, assuming that he comes on. John Brivio and Christopher Dixon. So a lot of changes in that lineup with Jack Strange, Joe Turner, Lee Harding, Lucas Rodrigues and Montel all moving into the starting lineup.

Analysis of Game Progress

So Matt, alongside me, what do you make of that? Yeah, a lot of changes. Good afternoon, everyone. Good afternoon, Charlie. It's great to be here. It's been a beautiful day so far. Nice and sunny, a little bit blowy, but where we are in the press box, got to say, it's one of the best press boxes I've been in league, certainly in the last couple of seasons. Got power, we've got Wi Fi, and it's nice and warm in here and it's all nice and contained. So hopefully you're hearing us loud and clear and we have had a very hospitable welcome, I've got to say. Really friendly club. Layston, the pitch is looking immaculate. So it's all set up for a really nice day out.

Comments on Team Changes

And there's a lot of ladies here as well. So that's great to see. But yeah, in terms of the team, so many changes, five in total to the starting lineup, and a real unexpected looking through to so many unexpected players. Come on. I think a lot of that is looking ahead, looking to next week against Ghoulston, not only just to have a bit of squad rotation and to save our, let's say, better players and certainly not risk them. Charlie Hester, Cook, Harvey Sparks and Danny Bark, and not even featuring in the squad whatsoever certainly says a lot. And certainly with Hammond and Brivs on the bench and down on the bench. I mean, it's a really talented bench, as you just recall there, Charlie.

Formation Speculation

So, yeah, quite a few changes. And I think part of that as well is the fact that there's undoubtedly going to be at least one Gallston scout here, obviously Galson, who are playing in the FA cup next week, and they will be coming down to scout us out and see if they can pick up any tips and tidbits, but we'll see. I think were deliberating, weren't we, Charlie, about what the formation could be. And even I'm still confused. My gut instinct says it's a three five two, which we haven't really played all that often this season. But just looking at the team lineup, if it's not that, it's going to be a very unbalanced, certainly unbalanced side.

Initial Reactions and Analysis of the Game

My word, that was close. Only just over the bar. Horsham gave him too much space. There was no real pressure on the ball as Ole Yuen cut in from the right hand side, the right back. But pass was played to Quantrell in a little bit of space, 25 yards from goal. Took a touch with his right foot onto his left and hit it very well indeed. And it was only just over the bar. First real warning for Horsham. Ball played into the channel for Turner for auction on the right hand side. He's facing up the centre back. Crosses the ball in. Headed away by Batho. Only as far as the edge of the box, where it's hooked clear by Ben Fowkes. And it's on halfway with Jack Strange. He bursts forward, but he overruns it. Caught in possession by Fotaggio. And it's back with the Blues on the edge of their own penalty area. With Eddie Jackson to his right, to Ollie Yuen. Back to Jackson looking for an option in front.

Possession and Movement Analysis

Plays it short to Loza. And now Alexander. But he's forced sideways. And the ball is with the skipper, Kyron Clements, at the back. Turner putting the pressure on the centre backs. And Loz has dropped deep. He plays it out wide to Ben Batho, whose touch completely deserts him. As he was thinking about what to do with the ball, he forgot to control it. And it's the throw into Horsham on the edge. Sorry. On the halfway line. And it's Lee Harding in possession. Goes back to Lewis Carey. He plays it left to Philpott. Philpott to Ogun. Mohammed still in their own half fortune. Ogman wamade with Oli Yeun at his back. And Jun gets the better of him. Wins the ball to Fitajo. Fotaggio turning, finding Alexander in the centre circle. Alexander going left and plays a fairly clumsy pass back to his centre back, but gets away with it.

Throw-Ins and Tactical Play

And it's tidied up by clemence, out to the left. But his pass didn't actually stay in play as Batho controlled it. So it's a throw into Horsham, 15 yards inside the lacedon half on the right hand side. Lovely turn by Meakams, but he's then forced to turn back. Plays it out wide to Joe Turner on the right hand side. Wins a throw in. It's going to be taken by Lee Harding. Just about level with the edge of the Layston penalty area. Lee Hardingen looking for movement, looking for Turner. It's intercepted by Alexander for another throw into Horsham. Harding right in the corner. Works his way all the way to the corner. Gets the ball across. It's too long. Ogunwamerde retrieves it. What can he do? On the left hand side, turns away from Yuan. Brilliant run by Ogunwamerdeh. Jun stuck to his task.

Attacking Play and Missed Opportunities

It breaks for Rodriguez. He was very nearly clipped by Fotaggio. Stayed on his feet and ultimately the ball runs out of play. Would have been interesting if Rodriguez had gone to the ground there. What did you think, Matt? Well, you might have heard me in the background. I said he should have gone down. I'm sure he has contact there. Maybe not enough to warrant a foul or a penalty, but you never know. You might as well risk it and see if the ref buys it. I'm sure there was contact, even if it wasn't much at all. But, yeah, another demonstration of how Horsham has started there. Some really nice stuff. Just the end product again, isn't quite where we want it to be. But, yeah, really incisive passing moves. Really fluid football. Hopefully more of the same as this game continues.

Gameplay Developments and Tactical Moves

As Joel Daly burst through the centre, is halted, and the ball lands at the feet of Lozo. And now with Contrell in the centre circle, that his pass out to the left for Ben Fowkes is seriously over hit. And rolls out harmlessly for a goal kick close to the left corner flag. It's retrieved by Jake Elliott and Borshen restart play with a goal kick. Kerry out to Philpot, out to Ogunwamerde on the left, back to Philpotthe Philpott looking forward under some pressure, but he brings the ball away, showing that pace I was talking about. And then a nice pass to Turner, who plays it out wide to Harding. Horsham have beating the press beautifully. Harding advancing, facing up Ben Batho. Harding, what can he do with this? Gets to the byline, crossed in, cleared away by Eddie Jackson, and it's brought away by Quantrella.

Defensive Movement and Pressing

Quantrell loses possession to Elliott, and now Meekems has the ball, but he's forced to turn back. Joel Daly just over halfway back to Meekams on the right hand touchline. Ten yards into the lacedon half, gives it back to Daly. He's got a little bit of space. He's looking for options and finishes up. Going back to Meakums and he goes back to strange. And we build again from the back with Isaac Philpott crossing halfway out to the left to Ognwamide in front of the Horsham bench. But he has the ball nicked off him by Oli Yuen. Crosses halfway, plays it to Quantrell. Early pass on here for Ben Fowkes. He's got a chance to shoot. And he scores off the far post. Ben Fowkes puts Layston in front.

Reflections on the Goal and Player Fitness

Jake Elliot looked to be a little bit leggy, and he's squatting down now. And I do wonder whether Jake Elliot is fully fit because he didn't really manage to pressurize Ben Fowkes at all there as Quantrell played him through in the inside left channel. And the way that Elliott squatted down, I don't know whether that was disappointment. He's now got his hands on his knees and he doesn't look like he's quite at 100% to me. So, having said that, Layston have not really threatened, apart from that shot from Quantrell that went over the crossbar a few minutes ago. It is the home side that take the lead. Matt Jones. So disappointing. I don't think Elliott's unfit. I think that was just a poor mistake by him, I'm afraid.

Post-Goal Analysis and Tactical Changes

Stepped up for no real reason as quantrell rather stepped forward, and that presented the space for folks to run into. He was found. It was a lovely finish, but a really cheap one to give away when we've been on top. Yeah. Certainly doesn't reflect the way that the game has gone so far, but it is what it is. Harding plays it forward. Chance Rodriguez, he's offside. Free kick on the edge of the Layston penalty area to the home side. Now, there wasn't really all that much in that situation initially, but it was, as Matt said, all too easy. All too easy for Ben Fowkes. He took it well. Drew Carey shot with his left foot across the keeper in off the far post, and Horsham have got it all to do now.

Gameplay as Halftime Approaches

Played forward by Argon. Womade down the left hand side for Turner. That's easily dealt with by Clements. Knocked forward by strange and hooked away again by Clements. Right the way through to Kerry Carey. Ball at his feet. Plays it short to Elliott. Back to Carey again. Horsham happy to build slowly from the back. You can't help but feel that something a little bit with a bit more zip might pay dividends, but who am I to say? Interesting that the two lays in the centre halfs have swapped sides. Skipper Clements has gone to the right hand side with Jackson to his left. And that's the opposite to how they began.

Entering Halftime Observations

Not quite sure what the thinking would be there, because they've only got one man, which is Joe Turner, to concern them. But they have swapped over. Maybe something to do with the threat that they feel that Ogunwomer poses on that left hand side. Maybe they want. Want the skipper to be backing full back Ollie Young to double up on ognoammade. Not sure, but that's obviously a tactical decision that the home side have made. The ball out for a throw in ten yards inside the Horsham half to be taken by Isaac Philpott. And he's looking for someone to throw the ball to. And no one really looks like they want to receive it.

End of First Half Analysis

Now there's some movement, but Philpott's still looking for someone. Eventually. Throws it long for Turner. Lovely touch by Turnip. Gives him half a yard on Oli Yun, heading for the corner flag. What can he make for this? But Yun does well and Fotajo completes the clearance. His ball finds its way up to halfway to Lhasa. Tried to pick out folks in that same left hand channel as before, but it was blocked by ajamange. Now the ball does find folks on the edge of the area faced by Elliott. Elliott wins that tackle, but it breaks to Foulkes again outside the box.

Final Remarks Before Halftime

Chips the ball into the far post for Quantrell. Headed away very well by Philpott. And it drops for Okonwomerdeh, who's able to play it forward for Turner. But Turner's got two men for company and can't win the ball. And Jackson does. Gives it to Fotaggio. Fotaggio forward down the line. It was meant for Quantrell, but he was on his heels. Montel Ajemang wasn't. And Ajamang sorted it out. Back to the goalkeeper. He plays it wide to Harding. Harding to Meakums. Meakams controls the ball well to Joel Daley. Daly lovely ball out wide left.

Introduction and Halftime Reflection

I'm going to hand it back to you, Charlie. Thank you. James Alexander Gordon. I'm not going to talk about Plymouth Argyle for any length of time other than to say the reason that our normal commentator Freddie Humphrey Wakefield isn't here is that he is actually a guest today of the media team at Plymouth Argyle. So he is getting the full on home park media experience. As part of his own work experience, he contacted clubs and Argyle replied within 15 minutes of the email being sent and said, yeah, come on down. So he is there today for the mighty Green Army's home fixture against Blackburn Rovers and I hope he's enjoying it. I'm certainly enjoying the scoreline.

Speculative Changes and Observations

So we always speculate at halftime about what changes might being considered and it's totally uninformed. It's almost always wrong. But Horsham's five substitutes, and there are only five in this competition have all been out there warming up. Dom de Powder has just come out and he's having a chat with. With all five and two of them, Jack Brivio and James Hammond have just disappeared off into the tunnel after Dom came out to speak. So whether we draw conclusion from that they are going to be coming on, I don't know. If they are, they're going to have to be quick because Leighton have already come out for the second half. So interesting that those two were the ones to quickly scuttle off after the manager came out. All I'm doing is reporting what I've seen.

Second Half Progress and Player Insights

I'm not saying they are coming on, but I'll tell you very shortly whether that is the case. So Layston are out all eleven. No sign at all yet of the Horsham team. Jimmy Punt has just emerged. Stuart Owens has just emerged, but no sign of the players, no sign of the referee. So whether that means that there's a lengthy debates continuing in the changing room or whether it means that Lacedon are just incredibly keen to get on with things. But they're all out on the pitch, kicking a ball around and still no sign of the Hornets. And from where we're sitting we can see down the tunnel and so we'll know sometime before they emerge onto the field that they're on their way.

Observing the Emerge of Players and Game Dynamics

But there's still no sign. Matt can see slightly better than I can, so he'll get a very slight advantage time wise, but no sign yet of the Hornets. What we do have on the field right now is club photographer John lines walking across, chair in one hand, gigantic camera in the other. Absolutely massive lens on that camera, which is what enables him to get all the superb shots that we're so used to seeing. So John's wandering across and now the hornets do emerge a little bit in dribs and drabs. I don't know. I always feel that isn't a good look when a team just kind of meanders out three or four at a time and mostly at walking pace.

Player Dynamics and Expectations

There's a few jogging, but by and large, they're not looking at it. And I don't know whether there's anything in that at all. I guess it doesn't really matter how you walk onto the field. But anyway, as Matt has rightly prompted me, there are no changes. So Brivio and Hammond leaving the halftime warm up earlier than the others has no immediate significance. And now the players are doing under Jimmy Punter's direction. Some shuffles and sprints just to get their legs going again. So they may have wandered onto the field but hopefully the fast twitch muscles will be twitching quickly as the second half kicks off. It's going to be Joe Turner.

Game Resumption and Strategic Plays

Not the most natural lone striker, I wouldn't have thought. We've got essentially two players who can play that role and both of them are on the bench. So Joe's getting the start today, but maybe a tough gig for him to be getting one of his rare starts but in a role that perhaps isn't his strong suit. Anyway, the game restarts. Turner to Ajamang. Ajamang out to Rees. Meakams to harding on the far side, the right. But his attempt to find Rodriguez down the right hand side is loose. And it's out for a throw in which Eddie Jackson, the left side, will take.

Field Dynamics and Defensive Plays

He decides to leave it to Ben Batho, the fullback in front of the dugout. 20 yards or so inside his own half bath. Quantrell comes short, but he's ignored by Batho, who looks long. Plays it upfield for Curtis, but he's robbed. And it's now with Ogunwomerde on the left hand side. On the halfway back to Strange. Strange goes right to Jake Elliott. Back to strange. Curtis applying a little bit of pressure and strange is able to bring the ball away to Harding. Harding cuts in field. His pass is loose to Rodriguez.

Passing Errors and Defensive Strength

And it's picked off by Fotaggio. Fotaggio breaking forward, chased by Rodriguez. Rodriguez gets back, puts pressure on, just holds Fotaggio up well enough to give Isaac Philpott the time to get the challenge in. And the ball ricochets off for Tajo and out for a goal kick. He's a little guy for Tajo, but he's definitely a handful. He's the one. Although he's playing in a midfield role he's the one who scored 14 goals in 14 games on loan at Gallston. Our next east anglian opponents in a week's time ball with Daley.

Equipped for Attack and Forward Strategies

Daley looking to go forward. He always looks to. His first thought is always forward. And it's played for Ajimang. Into the right channel for Ogunwamerde, who has swapped sides with Meakams. That's the only change to the way that Horsham are lining up by the looks of things, and that's a change that we've seen often enough this season with the two wide men. And Ogunwamerdeh, we know with his ability to cut in onto his left foot off that right flank, carries a real threat.

Attacking Opportunities and Performance Evaluation

Probably fair to say that all his goals this season have come when he's been on the right hand side. I can't, off the top of my head, think of one where he's scored coming in off the left, but I may be wrong. Good header by Daly for Fitajo to pick up, but Turner steals it off for Tajo. He's now right out on the touchline with two players for company. Wins a throw in. Wanted to do something quick, but there wasn't a quick option.

Game Progression

He was in almost exactly the same position from which Pfaff scored Layston's goal in the first half as Reece Meekams comes over to the touchline and has a puff on his inhaler. And the corner is going to be taken by Harding. Swung in, headed away by Brafo, and then Quantrell. But his clearance is not a good one. Hits Ajikai left footed, gets it all wrong. Saw his name up in lights on his hundredth appearance. Then Ajakai just loitering outside the penalty area for just that situation that the ball came to him, controlled it nicely on his right foot, first touch, and then got his left footed shot from 25 yards. All wrong. And Dan Ajikai, being Dan Ajakai, has got a big smile on his face. It's a rueful smile. He knows that wasn't one of his better moments, but we all know he's a player who plays with that smile. And let's hope that there's an opportunity for him to have a reason to smile some more as Meekems plays it forward.

Chasing Loose Balls

And here goes Ajikai chasing onto a loose ball. Can he get there ahead of Johnson? No. Johnson is quickly out all the way to the edge of his penalty area and got there maybe a yard ahead of Ajakai. That would have been very interesting if Dan could have got there first, because I think Johnson would have been high and dry. But he did well. The goalkeeper. And he dropped kicks long with the very small figure of Fotaggio. Surprisingly out jumps Jack Brivio for a header. And the ball has gone out for a throw in the home side, which will be taken by Jun, the right back, halfway inside his own half, up the line to Alexander, who thought he'd won a throw in, but the ball stayed in play. It's not Alexander it's foukes. And now it's with Jun. But Briviot blocks the run out for a throw in which Quantrell will take on halfway.

Foulkes and Clearances

He's leaving it for the full back. Yuen takes the opportunity to lob the ball a few yards down the line. The referee makes him go back. Eun clips the ball forward and Fouques has it back to Ewan. A bit of head tennis going on. Where is it going to land? It lands at the feet of Quantrell. And then with Jarvis. But picked off by Brivio. And Brivio plays it long. Rajakai, can he get onto the end of that? No, he can't. Well covered by Eddie Jackson. And a nice turn by Alexander creates some space for Batho on the left hand side. He's looking left for Lazar, who breaks past. Can he drop the ball? Yes, he can. But there's no pace on it. And it's easily picked off by James Hammond. Plays it long and it's controlled by Dixon. He's got Ajaqai in the middle.

Penalty Appeals and Offsides

Agekai has the chance, beats his man. And now the flag goes up. That was a late flag. If Dixon could just have got his pass away after his initial control. Layston were repeating for handball. It's impossible for us to tell from this side whether he did handball it. But they were appealing for handball. If the ball had just broken for Dixon to be able to play. His pass to Ajakai first time and Dan was clean through. But it took a second touch and by the time he did get the ball across Ajaqai was flagged. Offside. Ball now played out wide for Foulkes on the right hand side edge of the penalty area. He's faced by Daly. Cuts inside. Meakam's there as well. Has to go back.

Moving Forward with Play

Jarvis now plays it wide to Eun. The full back drifting infield. Back to Jarvis. Plays it square. Alexander round the corner. Headed away by Joel Daly. Almost picked off by Dixon, but won by Alexander. And now the ball's back with Jackson. The centre half for laced and pressurised by Ajakai and forced to go back. And the ball's with Johnson. Ten yards outside his own penalty area. He's looking for an option to hit. Long and still looking. And eventually plays it wide left and looked like a really good pass. But Harding picked it off. But it drops for Batho. Batho under pressure from Fenelonite. Batho plays it in the direction of Fotaggio. But it's picked off by Hammond and into the right channel for Ajakai.

Final Moments and Penalty Shootout

He's got the pace to get away from Jackson. Ajakai cutting into the box. Keep still going. Jackson stands him up. Ajikai back to the edge to Fenelon. Fenelon, looking to create space for a cross. Cuts it across, but it doesn't get any power on it. And Batho finds that an easy one to pick off. Gives it to Alexander, bringing the ball forward. But his pass is easily picked off by Elliott. And now it's with Fenelon in front of the lacedon dugout. Ball played into the feet of Ajakai. Loose touch from the front man and laced. And have the ball back, but they play it forward. Easily picked off by Elliott, but his clearance only finds the feet of Jarvis. Jarvis, just inside his own path. Plays a good pass down the left hand side for Loza, but Elliott saw that and cut it out and gave the ball back to his goalkeeper.

Tension Building

And then neat little triangle with strange enables Horsham to bring the ball away. And it's with Lee Harding. And he's back to strange. And now Hammond. Nicely done to Brivio. Working the way out of the press really neatly there. And it's back with the. With Brivio. I was going to say with the captain. He's not the captain because Lee Harding is the captain. And now said captain has the ball. And he goes back to Elliott. Elliott to Hammond at the base of the midfield, gives it back to Elliot. Looks forward. Ajaqai in the right channel, but unable to get there ahead of Eddie Jackson, who puts the ball out for a throw in front of the home dugout. 15 yards inside the lacedon half. Harding to Hammond.

Closing Stages of the Match

Nice little swivel of the hips. Gives him space for a cross. But it was dinked in for Dixon. Dixon didn't realize it was coming. And it goes through to Johnson. The ball is with the home skipper, Karen Clements, just outside his own area, forced back by Meakums. Johnson. Another shank. Johnson's. Johnson's play off the ground has really been pretty sketchy, I have to say. I don't know whether through the double glazing you can hear the increasingly angry man. I hope it's not that nice, Fred, who we spoke to earlier. It could be. He doesn't sound happy. Ball is with Jack Brivio into the feet of Meakams. Cutting in field pressurized by Jarvis, forced to go sideways, then hammered.

Building Up to the Penalty Drama

Nice change of direction to Brivio. A little bit of space on the left-hand side for the skipper. All nearly released daily on the overlap but it was intercepted. And now a chance for Layston to break for Tajo with the ball in the centre of midfield. But that's a very loose pass by him. Easy for Hammond, and then to Briviot, and then to Dixon. He attempted a little round the corner pass to Ajakai, but it didn't find the target. And now Quantrell has the ball, plays it in the direction of Lhasa. But again, Elliot, who actually has played a lot better in the second half, picked that one off. And now it's with Dixon, almost finds Ajakai again. But Horsham front two really linking well.

Strategic Plays Leading to Pre-Penalty Succession

I think a huge benefit having two central strikers. When Dan comes on, very often it's in a wide position. But Shamir Fenlon is playing a somewhat deeper role since he came on. And it does mean that Horsham are essentially playing with two strikers. You can tell the difference because Hachikayi and Dixon are close to one another and they're creating a lot of problems for the Layston defense. Ball with James Hammond goes all the way back. It was halfway inside the Layston half, and he's gone all the way back to his goalkeeper. But Horsham bring it forward again. Fenelon lays it off to Harding. Not very well, but Harding wins it. And Harding now to Dixon.

Match Title

Dixon drifting into space. To Ajakai. Ajakai edge of the box wide to meakums. Opportunity here. Meakams attacking. Goes outside, full back crosses and just deflected away by Johnson. And behind Fenelon, who was coming in at the far post. Crucial touch by the goalkeeper. If he hadn't got something on that, then I think Fenelon could have been on for his first goal of the season. Lovely work again by Dixon. Hes just finding pockets of space, using all of his know how, all of his experience, all of his nous, and linking really well with the runners. Loving your work, Dicko. So it's a corner to Horsham, far side.

Penalties Looming

Lee Harding, two hands in the air, drilled towards the penalty spot. Headed away by Jackson. There's Ajakai on the edge of the box, he's got a chance to shoot. Ajakai doesn't really get hold of it. And it's hooked away by clementshood, to Loza. All on his own, up front. Pressurized quickly by Elliot. He wins the ball. It bounces clear to Oli yun and very nearly dispossessed by Bribbio. But now it's a chance for a break. Except that Joel Daly, as ever alert, quick, calm, gets the ball back to his goalkeeper and out to Lee. Harding wins the throw in front of the Horsham. Dugouthenne is with Jake Elliott. The goal is really galvanized.

Endgame Strategies

Well in fact the substitutions have galvanised Horsham that have led to a goal and looking much the better side at the moment as the balls played down the right channel for Ajakai. Can't get to it. Bafo forced to go back to his goalkeeper. And now Alexander with some space, middle of his own half, no pressure being applied. He goes long and pretty aimless and is picked off by Harding. But Fenelon is dispossessed. Played wide on the left to Loza. Chance near the corner flag to measure across.

Tension in Detail

Dribbles in to take on Harding. Harding forcing him to go inside and out and eventually blocking the ball. And it's half clear. Dixon. Dixon gets away from his man. Dixon crossing the halfway line. He's got a lot of space to run into on the left hand side. He's got Meakams in the middle, Agekai in the middle. Dixon on the ball forced to turn back, plays the ball into the. Couldn't quite control it and the chance is gone. Alexander brings the ball away to foukes on the right hand side. Halfway back to Alexander. Nice little ball in field to Jarvis who plays it left to Lozae.

The Final Stages of the Game

Getting quite a lot of space on that left hand side. He's attacking. Harding looking to get onto his right foot for a shot, but. And then on his left foot for a shot as the ball bounced back to him off Harding. The shot was well struck but it was absolutely straight at Lewis Carey. He parried it and then grabbed it and plays it out to James Hammond who goes wide to Reese. Meakams approaching halfway on the left hand side. Back to Hammond and back to Meakams. Meekams on the touchline. Good work by Alexander.

Approaching the End

Wins the ball off him. Back to Ewan and in turn back to the goalkeeper. Johnson. Ball at his feet. See what his distribution is like this time. Hes under no pressure at all. Ball stationary at his feet. Lets see who he tries to pick out. Hes certainly going to go long. And he does. He basically just bangs it straight down the middle. And thats a very straightforward ball for Jack Strange to deal with and nod back to his goalkeeper. He rolls out to Brivio and then to strange to Hammond and to Joel Daly on the left hand side and back to strange.

Moments Before the Drama

So where are we at? 89 minutes. Sorry, is that right? 89 minutes already? Goodness me. So we've got a minute to go. This second half has absolutely flown by. I couldn't. I can't quite believe how quickly that's gone. But Horsham are the only side really looking to try and go on and win this game at this stage. But the ball's in their own half. But now Elliott breaks forward, still going. Elliot's gone a long way. Plays it to Ajikai. Edge of the box. Ajikai cuts it back onto the edge for Dixon, but he can't get there.

Closing in on the Final Whistle

It's cleared away by Clements, up to Quantrell. Quantrell, nice little pass out to the left by Fotaggio. And once more Lozo is on the ball. Cuts inside, but every time they look as though they might just be in a position to attack, the Horsham rearguard closes ranks. And now Harding coming forward with the ball. That's well challenged by Fotaggio, but it's picked up. The loose ball's picked up by Fenelon on the right hand side. Looking for an option. Goes inside to Hammond.

Final Attempts

A lot of space on the edge of the centre circle. James Hammond. And gives it Jack Strange in the centre circle, to Brivio, to Hammond. Horsham looking for options ahead. Hammond clips it out wide to Fenelon on the right hand side, but he's forced to go back to Harding. Harding dinks one into the edge of the box, to the feet of Dixon. Round the corner to Ajaqai. It drops the Hammond almost. But Alexander, who's had a really tidy game, wins that ball. And Hammond. Hammond is unquestionably going to get a yellow card.

Late Game Actions

As Alexander broke up the Horsham attack, slipped the ball through to Fotaggio and he was making serious ground in the centre circle. Crossed the halfway line and he was getting away from James Hammond. And absolutely no question at all. Completely deliberate trip by the Horseham, number seven. And Matthew friend had absolutely no hesitation in brandishing the yellow card. James Hammond had absolutely no complaint. That is what they call taking one for the team.
