Behind the Mic
Our channel subscribe? All right, let’s hope we’re not getting rugged this week. Very hustlin’ bustling type week this week. Never feels good. So I don’t have too much more to say than when Sinjin kind of walked through everything just now. I’m not sure exactly what happened with the Polygon team over the last year and a half. Yeah, I think when a team’s deposits are locked and then they want to deposit again, but they can’t, they’re like, well, maybe even earn more interest while it’s locked, right? Hey, guys, we just want to listen and have you guys discuss what you guys are thinking. I don’t know. I’m looking in text chat for kind of what’s going on as well. I mean, we can talk about pre-seed round investment related things or, in general, the impact that has on later their token economies. I think we always got to keep in mind that some of these projects don’t have the funds to give these people in our space. Plug your ears. It’s because it’s not a security, but rather than give out shares of the company, maybe you give out tokens so that people can feel somewhat invested in the project. And so you can’t really blame a project for doing these rounds. I think that, like everything crypto, once something works, it gets overblown to the point of, like, insanity, right? It’s like, hey, that worked a little bit. So let’s kick it up to 100 so that, you know, basically this entire round is all KOLs and all they do is talk about our fucking project. And then, you know, the people can be exit liquidity for it or whatever. And so I think we have, like, we, as a space, we’re not very good at moderation, but we really have to learn some moderation because I think these things can work if done correctly, but we tend to not want to do things correctly. Slow and steady and then all at fucking once, as soon as it works, slow and steady and then ruin it for everybody. Knock over to you. Yeah, I actually don’t think it’s even a moderation problem. I think the problem is too many teams in web three for way too long see something work for somebody else, they have no care in the world for the context behind why that particular thing worked. And they said that team did it. So I’m going to do it just like every fucking NFT sale for a team who has no idea how the ecosystem works and goes, this team launched a $2 million, but didn’t pay attention to the fact that team participated within the ecosystem for two years. They built a strong community, they paid attention, they have a playable game. They’ve become a thought leader. Like, they just see something work and then they try to replicate it. And in this case, I really strongly believe that thing that worked was portal. So a lot of teams saw portal go off well. They saw the fact that they did a KOL round, bunch of KOLs made a fuck little money and then other people wanted to follow people into KOL rounds. If you want to test uptick and then we asked supply what they have seen with KOL raised and then ice, if you want to close us out with any considerations, hello, hello. Great stuff. I’m curious about what Koji thoughts are in terms of like trapping liquidity, right? Into a game. Are there methods and mechanisms to mechanically and function mentally trap liquidity into the game? Well, I definitely think that there’s been some extreme overuse of this mechanic and they, as usual with blockchain games, right, there are lessons from traditional gaming studios that have been run and been tried. See you next build the system of accountability person. Yeah, I would say definitely important. I feel like I’ve done a lot of talking in this, but hey, Koji, let me know. It’s been a great combo, but everybody, you’re muted. All right, I just want to kind of ask Koji to dig in a little bit more for the people listening around, kind of just his thoughts around like traditionally a video game has borrowed value versus trying to kind of create their own, but before you jump into that, I quickly want to get everyone’s thoughts on Chinese regulation around AI right now. I think it’s incredibly interesting. Their perspective, specifically what they’re putting the onus on for content creators through the provisioning of this content has to become accountable, accountable for may say legality and probably taxation purposes, but really curious to hear thoughts on how this will slow down or generate innovation within China and potentially other countries. All right, Koji, I’ve kicked the can long enough for you, so jump on in. What would you like to hear more about? I’ve been doing Unity development for years now and watched big companies like Discord turn into larger ecosystems, and I think we’re going backward with what Crypto’s offering. What made games really profitable back in the day was the art and video game value, and I think blockchain games need to be back there, focusing on real value for players. Eis, last question for you of the day. So in terms of vertical integration, what do you think are the major hurdles for Axie exhaustively? They have even considered trying to get it up on Unity platforms. We saw the exponential growth when the Roblox platform integrated. And what do you expect will be some major influencers for GameFi if they get these integrations done? Yeah, interesting question, right? With Axie specifically and vertical integration, it’s best when it offers value without taking value away from the player experience. Have they looked into it? Sure. I believe it’s feasible but not without challenges. Gummies break down operations, logistics, cost. I actually don’t think they lack in terms of the ability to do these things; maybe the focus should be on Bitcoin integration, honestly. Ice, you’re the closing bell, bro. What do you got? I need my damn bell. First off, let’s dispel any rumors for Koji—I watch your stuff; you’re on the right track. And yes, AI and blockchain integration are on an upward trajectory but not without layered intricacies from varying governments. Policy? Regulation? Obviously, those changes will dictate the roadmap. From a holistic view, the playbook seems to be written as we speak, which means more experiments, more validation on what resonates, and fundamentally staying true to the game and community. Ultimately game communities fuel innovations, so hats off to those continuously engaging and pushing boundaries. All right, before we sign off, let’s highlight today’s secret word: ‘Valor’. Community, we see you. Keep embodying that spirit as we carve history one block at a time. So stay frosty, and remember that in the web three gaming world, Avalanche is where the legends are playing, and Stardust is the official infrastructure of game five. So before you log off, let’s zoom in on their latest game changer, Stardust new user activity acquisition tool. Imagine snagging the spotlight for your digital domain, drawing in droves of dedicated gamers, all at a fraction of the cost. Stardust makes it happen by tailoring your reach to the right players at the right time. So keep your games glowing and your player base growing, and let Stardust be the secret sauce to your success. A huge shout out to this absolutely Titan packed panel today. We got Koji, Sinjin, Jerry bringing up, the usuals, you know, dub as well, Lems, of course, but wills behind the Stardust account, the secret weapon over there, apparently. We also have Michael O’Connor, one of my favorites over the last year of gamified. Always appreciate whenever you make time for us yet again, Skyhopper, behind the my pet hooligan account, flexing those muscles and that knowledge at the very end, as well as a few times throughout the show. You were absolutely incredible. You’re welcome back anytime. As well as Sean, who I what’s the word? Compared to Paul Bettner earlier, which is about as high praise as I can possibly give. So you’re also welcome back absolutely anytime. Jerry as well from uptick mentioned you with the regulars. Appreciate you as always. Some of the regulars, since I overbooked by one. Just wanted to give you guys a special shout out for allowing me to rotate the panel and make space. Still hoping one day Twitter expands the panel here a little bit so we don’t run into that issue again. But a huge thank you to everybody if you want to give away today, lambs or ice will be in your dms to make sure that gets fulfilled and I will see you guys next week. Same time, same place. Thanks gamified for being the best part of my week every single week. Love all you guys big smooches.
