Behind the Mic

Introduction to League of Ireland Late Night

Geez, we're all fierce punctual tonight. Good evening everybody. Welcome to League of Ireland late night with me, Cameron Hill. Glad to have you along again after a week absence. You go away for one week and Bradley sticks to boot. In to the league, what can you do? It is League of Ireland late night brought to you in association with 888 Ireland 18 plus. Please gamble responsibly. See Gamblingcare, ie.

Visitor Response and Observations

Shane Keegan. Good evening, Cameron. You've been on time on a Friday night can mean only one thing and that's that there was no League of Ireland games in Dublin. Ouch. Jeez. I feel seen right. All right, I'll move on to Johnny Ward then, if you're going to be like that. Good evening, Johnny. Good evening lads. How are you? The classic back three. Much like Ireland last night. What were you watching this evening in terms of Premier Division content? Or maybe it dipped into the first if you're nasty.

Premier Division Matches Discussion

No, I stuck with the premier. Yeah, I went with the Derry balls game. Obviously. It was the one with the most riding on it two Friday nights in a row and I was sitting down to watch Derry and Bows. Yeah, it was. It was always going to be a horrible fixture for them, Cameron, I can tell you. It was something I never ever enjoyed was playing. Having to play a team a second time soon after you've recently beat them is horrible because it's inevitable that the losing manager is always the one who's likely to learn more from the previous game. And that was very evident tonight.

Match Analysis and Learnings

Allen Reynolds did learn a lot of lessons from last Friday night's performance and Derry War. Not at the same level, but not at the same level because probably because Bowles didn't allow them to. That said, they could still very easily have won the game, particularly before they conceded. I thought they had a couple of very good chances before Bowles actually went and sucker punched him up the other end with what was a really good goal. Fantastic. Dale Rooney cross I thought. Absolutely super. Yeah, it was. I'll be honest, it wasn't a game I was ever overly confident that Derry could go and win. So it doesn't surprise me that. That they've only managed to take the point from us.

Fan Engagement and Commentary

But it will be uploaded. Our supporters, a few of whom I hope you'll hear from tonight. Yeah, there's one standing by there as well, so we'll get him on as soon as we can. Pfaff is just joining and it's amazing really that Derry weren't going to concede a set piece. So they conceded the next piece thing, which was a across from deep, which went in. Yeah, very annoyingly, but. Good evening, pfaff, how you doing? I think he was there for a second. If you just want to unmute yourself there. Yes, can hear you loud and clear. How you keeping? Cool.

International Observations on Match Performance

I'm just, I'm just reporting in from local, Germany and just outside Hamburg. I live, yeah, I was, I'm a bozda fan, obviously, and, I was watching it tonight. dirty were forced to have. I thought they were very poor and the second half, they didn't have a lot of helping and puffing, but, they just really couldn't. Apart from, apart from that goal, which was a very good goal, but poor defending from balls as well. that header should never have been allowed. Jevon Mills was a pure sort of attempt to jump and defend it and obviously they got that equalized.

Reflections on Match Dynamics

And I said, well, this should be, this could be the onslaught. It was a bit of an onslaught, but they just couldn't finish it and they had a chance to. And he hit the upright from it as well. That should have been really in the back of the net and then you were looking at. The game should have been over at that stage, but. And by the way, they should have been descending off as well. Andre wisdom. Yes. I can't understand how that, how Neil Doyle made that decision. And he made some very strange decisions as well. He was dishing out and laughing out of yellow cards.

Referee's Decisions Under Scrutiny

And the start of the game, I think it was after three or four minutes, he booked a boss player as well. And I just thought that was sort of, it wasn't really that type of game. Okay. Dawson Devoy took a yellow, but in fairness, he took it really for the team. He misses, obviously, the match against Pats on Monday, but overall it wasn't. I won't say Neil Doyle had a really bad game, but there was a couple of instances there where he could have sort of said, okay, I'll just take a backseat here and let it go on, you know, but. And in the case of wisdom at the back, he should have been sent off.

Pitch Conditions and Their Impact

Definitely should have been sent off. I'd be a big Neil Doyle fan, to be honest with you. He's one of the few that I always kind of, you know, sing the praises of, but have. How that game ended up with ten yellow cards tonight, I'll never know. Yeah, because it wasn't it wasn't a dirty game as such, you know. But I have to say it's something else as well. About. About. I don't know. But as you can relate to this, the pitch itself is atrocious and I think that's costing dairy points, to be honest with you.

Analysis of Game Flow and Challenges

There was an instance there in the first half. They were in the box and one of the, Is it Millen, I think his name is, or Mac Miller. McMullin, I think his name is. He sort of. Yeah, that's. He sort of. He couldn't stop to go back to and get the ball on the grass pitch. That wouldn't happen, you know. So I think. I think a pitch like that is just. It's not doing them justice or not doing them any good, to be honest with you. I'd agree with you.

Consistent Performance Issues

I'd agree with you. The only thing I'd say is. The only you say in a grass pitch, that wouldn't happen. That's. That's two games. That's two games in a row. Wherever. Wherever MacMullan has come undone because of a poor surface. He did get done on the grass there recently as well, didn't he? With that bad bobble in. Where was it? I'm trying to think. Was it was a daily mount. Where was last week's game? Was last week's game a daily mount?

Reflecting on Recent Performances

Yeah. Was in Daily Mount, wasn't it? Yeah. And if you think Mulligan went through with that game. Yeah, exactly. Which bubble was that? Yeah. MacMullen went through one v one with the keeper in that one as well. And look, he probably still should have finished it, but I did feel for him. When you watch it back in slow motion. Jesus Christ. The ball was up around his kneecaps with every bounce that it took. I'm not sure.

Comparing Pitch Quality

The Derry pitch is not great, but I'm not sure if it's a whole lot worse. Worse than the bulbas one at the moment, either. Yeah, well, I just couldn't understand. It looked as if. It looked as if. I don't know what the weather was like up there, if there was hailstones or something on the pitch, but, Or it was sand on the pitch, I couldn't tell you, but it looked where I was looking. Looking from. It would look. There's a lot of voice stuff on this, On the pitch itself.

Pitch Maintenance and Future Improvements

So, Obviously, look, it's, It is what it is. And, I don't know whether that's going to be changed when they actually, When the ground is completely. Completely renovated or nothing. Yeah, I suppose maybe the fact that all these pitches have equally big problems creates a level playing field, pardon the pun. Exactly. Yeah. What are your thoughts on it? Feels like the season is kind of.

Current Landscape of League Games

They're not completely on the beach for bows but I mean that's a kind of a good point and certainly positives to take into taking on pats on Monday night which will be a very tricky game like, well, is the season. Are you kind of just. All right, let's start planning for next season at this stage or do you think you're out of the relegation picture yet or what's the view from the bows end? I guess.

Reflecting on Club Performance and Future Goals

Well, everybody's obviously fairly paid off about what's going on and it doesn't look as if. And of course the crowning of it was obviously last Friday but I don't think. There wasn't an awful lot of people that I spoke to anybody were expecting to beat Derry. But you have a home game and you sort of. You're 90 minutes away from a cup final and it didn't happen.

Motivational Aspects After Results

And then of course you're playing the same opposition tonight and as you know, sort of yourselves after playing the same opposition and losing it's sort of. It's gone up there, you know. And you really have to sort of motivate yourself to try and sort of get some sort of result. And in fairness, I have to say they did dig in and they got a result. I have to say it's a point that I really wasn't expecting, you know, so.

Comparative Team Performance

And nothing really has happened between ourselves and drawda. So at the same time I wouldn't say it's over because we have a quite difficult run in as well to the end, you know. So they're all teams that are sort of. Yeah, they're open, they're there and thereabouts obviously, you know, and it's not. It's not over yet and it's just like the top of the division as well.

Thoughts on Top Teams and Competitiveness

Obviously the top of division is. It's. That looks as if it's going to be. And I've said all around, I think I'm a ball supporter and. But I think San macrovers are sort of. They're just waiting to pounce, any mistakes and I think they're going to punish them, to be honest with you. Yeah, it feels that way.

Season's End and Future Expectations

There is a pang of inevitability about it but, I think, Yeah, I think it did. Your rival's a favor tonight. pfaff. So I'm sure they'll be thanking you in the comments at some point. Thanks a million for jumping on. Okay, lads, cheers. Cheers, Johnny. Bye bye. Yeah, it is a. It is an interesting couple of weeks for bows.

Discussion on Recent Performances

I mean, we have seen that where they had those two results against shells, and it's probably one we can come back to, Shane, in terms of what does it say about a team that they can put into good performances and still not win either of those games? But we will get the Derry perspective on things. Aiden is standing by.

Connecting with a Derry Supporter

Good evening, Aidan, how are you? Welcome to League of Ireland. Late night? Hi, lads. How's it going? Not too bad. Sounds like you're making your way back from the Brandywell there. Yeah, well, I just came up to the supporters club. I'm just standing outside and everything, just so I can have a listen.

The Mood in Derry

Very good. And what's the mood in there at the moment? I mean, that really does feel like it's going to be hard to see Derry going keep themselves in this title race when you're dropping points like that. Does it? Or what is the mood? I just, like, deflated a bit just because, of course, after, like, winning away to bows there just last week, and then especially with coming at home and you'd be thinking, you know, like, you're a lot more confident and stuff and with what's on the line, but fans are like just losing their mental capacity at the minute.

Reflection on Pressure and Expectations

I. And then at the ground, everybody's just shouting, you know, sack the cup. We want the league and stuff. Right? So that's the feeling. It's not even getting into the cup final now would pale in comparison if you can't also keep the title race going. Is it? Aye, I know, it's. It's sort of like, you know, obviously it can just be the emotions of the night, but, you know, everybody does, you know, everybody wants to leak, you know, over the, like, over the cup and everything.

Capital vs Cup Ambitions

And some people are thinking that they're, you know, if we don't won the league after rings happening, you won the cup, it's like pipping over in cracks, et cetera. A lot of fans will be saying. What did you think of tonight's performance aid? like, I thought we played well, to be honest. Fair play Devos, where the likes of, you know, they went a lot more attacking than what I thought they would.

Derry's Game Strategy Review

you know, because obviously they're, you know, like, they're at the. Their important part of the season, too, with the you know, not getting on their scrap with Drogheda. Like, I thought they played really well, to be fair. I'll give credit, they. I think it was. Was it Dale Rooney or Kirk? I was right behind the ball for that cross.

Key Moments from the Game

It was an amazing cross. So, Dale Rooney? Yeah, it was. I. It just. I don't know, it just made me, just took me back. They went, Sean Boyd scored in the 90th minute when it was derrian shells at the start of the season. Exact same type of goal. But I thought in parts that we did play well and stuff, but we just couldn't finish our dinner.

Reflections on Performance Inefficiencies

I couldn't believe the Muslim McMullen had. I thought last week a wady bogues was bad, never mind then tonight. And he almost seemed to pull back from it. Like he really kind of lacked conviction in terms of what he was. I don't know, I don't know. It's, it's.

Scrambles and Opportunities

And then you had the scramble, the mad scramble in the six yard box and like, I. I thought you could have had one or two in that ten minute period before you actually did score. and then when you get to not score in that period of dominance is one thing, but then to actually end up one nil down coming out of a period of dominance was a really bitter blow, let's be honest. There wasn't a massive amount created in the second half.

Ending Thoughts on Performance

Like, hoop's goal is a superheader. Absolutely superheader. There's a huge amount still to do, to be done there. I know Mickey's cross is decent and it is an outswinger, but I just thought that was a super hitter. There wasn't a whole lot more. Go on. I thought, I don't know if you've seen much of him. I thought young Robinson looked lively when he came in for you.

Closing Remarks

Yeah, no, definitely. I was.

Emotional Recollection of a Critical Moment

I nearly lost my vocal cords because I was screaming for him. They shoot because I was thinking he was taking a lot of torches. I was just thinking, just get the shot away. You don't know what will happen, like a deflection or anything, but I was over, like beside the farnstand at the time when they're like overside the stand, they already end the stadium when Derry scored and he was about to come on and then they told him to sit back down. okay, so he was literally about to come. He was. He was stripped and standing on the touchline ready to come on. But as soon as Derry scored, they told him to sit back down.

Player Performance Analysis

Yeah, yeah, no, I thought he was decent, obviously. He had that brilliant touch where he comes inside the voye and devoid has to pull him down. Then like you say. Did he take too many torches? in that one, inside the. Inside the box he probably did. But at the same time I could understand it never quite seemed to be out from under his feet. and I thought Mills did brilliantly for balls to get back across and. And get the ball scrambled away just as he did look like he was about to pull the trigger. But like, did you have enough chances to win the game? You did, but at the same time, can you really, you know, can you really complain that you've only come away with a point? I'm not so sure you can.

Future Predictions and Game Expectations

I would have said, I never really saw you getting the nine points from nine, to be honest with you. Heading into the shells, heading into the shelves game, I always felt it was more likely to be seven out of nine. And really that has to still remain to be the case for you. So. So now there is no more room for slip ups. I don't think tonight is the end of the world, but I don't think there's any more room for slip ups in the next two because I have you chalked down. I'll be honest with you, Ivy. Chalk down for no points. In the Pats game, I was kind of looking at things and I thought, okay, seven points from the next nine allows them to still potentially win the title on the last day. Even. Even. Wait, it would be from the next twelve because we've got Sligo Monday and then we've got Dundalk away on Friday.

Analyzing League Dynamics

Yeah. Yeah. So, so what I'm saying is if you include tonight's. I was looking at. At seven points from nine from that first set of three potentially could allow you to actually lose at Pax and still be able to win the title on the last day of the season. But I don't know. I don't know. I'll be honest. I I I think Rovers will go nine from nine. I think Rovers will collect all nine points which would see them finish on 61 points and in all likelihood 61 points and a better goal difference than either of the other two. So I'm. I'm really starting to think it's. I'm really starting to think it's. It's theirs at this, what I'd absolutely love. And I think it is still a possibility. I've sketched out so many different permutations.

Potential Outcomes of the Season

I have one here that's based on pretty realistic results that would see the last day of the season being shells going into it potentially on 60 points if they get their act together a bit between now and then, which I think they can do. Rovers going into it on 58 and Derry going into it on 58, which would mean, remarkably, that shells would probably win the title if they could win the game and shells not win the game. I just think it's. I think it's mad. I think it's. There's going to be at least two. I think it's going to be at least two, if not three teams still alive heading into this last game and obviously two of them taking each other on, which will just be unbelievable tv viewing. Yeah, not exactly like I do believe as well, you know, like all three teams will be in it towards the end of the season.

Goal Difference and Game Dynamics

I'm just, you know, I'm glad our goal difference is, you know, better than Shells and Rovers at the minute. I think we're like five ahead of Rovers. Obviously, I can change. I was sort of hoping maybe Drogheda will win tonight just because then I gave him a lot more confidence going into playing, you know, I think it's Rovers third next game. So you're right, yeah. I was looking at, I was looking at Rovers compared to shells. It never dawned on me to look at Rovers compared to Derry's. So, so actually, if I. If, if we could get that scenario where it's shells on 60, Derry on 58 and Rovers on 58 heading into the last game, the only result that shells or that Rovers could win the league with is a Derry shells. Draw.

Critical Importance of Game Outcomes

Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah. Rovers need to win their game and pray that neither of the other two actually win. Motor of God, that would be some crack. Yeah, exactly. So, like the likes of a draw would be good enough for shells, but then, Or not a, like a draw, etc. But I just mean shells would still have to go for it as well, same as dairy, so it wouldn't be as tight. Especially if Rovers, you know, is slightly behind both. Yeah. So, yeah, it's very narrow. So it is. But I can't remember the last time I've seen a title race where the likes of, like, in the league where these, you know, where there's been like three teams really much into it because every year it always used to be like, you know, Dundalk Rovers, Dundalk Cork, etcetera.

Current Standings and Team Performance

Johnny, where's your money? I like that. The table right now. So, like Shells and Shamrock Rovers first and second, they've won 14 games of their 33, Derry, Galway United, Pats, Sligo and Watford, in that order, have all won exactly 13 games. So seven teams out of ten in the league have either won 13 or 14 games with three rounds to go. And like, I doubt there's a table in the world of football as mad as the League of Ireland at the moment where, like, Derry could quite conceivably not finish in the first four. Like, they still could conceivably not finish in the first four yet would have definitely been favorites for the title if they'd won tonight.

League Unpredictability

And it's just, it's almost like, it's like sending ten absolute randomers on a. On a weekend out and like, they all ended up in the same bar on the. On the final night, even though they've just had a crazy weekend where like this. Some of them had a great start to it, then they got lost, but now they came back. This league has been absolutely nuts. Like where you have teams on an upward trajectory now, like Shamrock Rovers, big time bows have improved a good bit for me. Obviously, pats are. Pats are the best team in the league. I think both have the same points as Sligo who, you know, would have been considered a team that might, you know, struggle to stay up.

Upcoming Matches and Their Significance

Goal United. If goal United actually beaten undoc would still very much be in the race. And I wasn't confident Derry beat bows last week, but I sort of felt. I think you're right, Shane. I sort of felt to get the job done at home tonight after beating them in the cup. But it is easier for the team that lasts to regroup and boas Boaz are good side. Like, they're good players if they've. Derry have a fairly slow back too, so they will kind of be vulnerable. And Andrea Wisdom showed that, I think Neil Doyle, and just on that one, I think Neil Doyle didn't give a red because he felt Brian Maher, who's brilliant for coming off his line, and Brian Maher was so far off his line, I think Tierney wouldn't have made it.

Referee Decisions and Game Signals

But Andrew wisdom wasn't to know that it was. He was very lucky. And like, I think then, you know, Derry lose that game. So the point might work out too badly for them. The main thing for Derry is that it's still 100% in their hands. If they win the four games, they will win the league. But like, I backed Shamrock Rovers in double with Cork City at the start. They were like eight to eleven. I'd given up on that pretty much a long time ago and today I put up pats in the Racing Post at 100 to one to win the league, which I think has a chance I might use and I expect pats to.

Competitive Nature and Team Strategies

To be Derry. I wouldn't be surprised they won all the four games expectant to beat us and if we could go into that last game, that last day of the season, you know, it would look like we might have that sort of jeopardy at the bottom which would probably be gone now in the loud derby. But the other potentially four teams, I feel it's very realistic. There'll be at least three teams involved going into the last day of the season and that's without doing the maths in my head. Like, I'd rule out go United but the other four I wouldn't. I don't fancy shells, I have to say.

Critique of Shells Performance

I think they've had. They've just dropped too many points now and I wouldn't be confident about the win any of their games. And after tonight I'm probably coming around Shamrock Rovers at this stage because I do feel Jack Byrne coming back to form and the players that they have and also the fact that they'd probably be in the dressing room and saying, lads, like, we've had a shocker of a season really by our standards and we can still pretty much win this. And I kind of. I don't know. I don't know how you'd price it up now.

Assessment of the Title Race

But I'd have. I kind of fancy Sharma Grover's but I felt Damien Duff was completely wrong to call out Stephen Bradley, by the way, about the quality of the league because Shelburne were only top because their main rivals were not at their best, particularly Sharma Grover's. And I think Bradley was right about that. Like Sharon Grover's have been poor this season up until the last sort of month, six weeks maybe, but they're getting going. Pats have been really outstanding. One five on the bounce. I think they've scored 15 goals. And you think as well Shane, like Pat's put out a second team against goal United in Terry land when if they'd put out led nine changes, like if they'd actually tried to win that game maybe they'd have two points more.

Derry's Performance and Future Potential

But it's mad stuff and whatever Derry think about tonight and they may say they were lucky with Andrea Wisdom, they got to remember they were blessed to get Anthony against Sharma Groves and that was a three point swing. And it's very possible that simulation from Patrick McLenny will. Will be massive in the title race yet, but we shall see. It's. It's unbelievable. I've never seen Anthony like it. All the top seven teams out of ten have won 14 games or 13 games after, like, 33 games. Like, it's. It's bonkers stuff. Never seen anything like it in any league.

Implications of Upcoming Matches

Sorry about that, Shane. But you see, for, like, this week on, like, on Monday's game, right, it's even massive with Derry and Sligo because the Galway place and Pat's next, right? So. And Sligo is slightly behind the two of them. So they have to come to Derry, you know, and try and go for it. And Derry haven't done well against Sligo, home or away, in recent years. And, like, let's just say if Sligo, you know, won on Monday, that put Sligo one point behind Derry. It's completely bonkers for top four. Definitely within the space of, like, four days, you're going from nearly like a title race and they nearly top five.

Expressions of Frustration Regarding Team Performances

Or else you need. Really need to won the FBI cup to get Europe. Yeah. I've been criticized for saying, like, if Shelburne won the league, I don't necessarily think Damien Dove should absolutely get the manager of the year. I think the job John Russell has done in Sligo, honestly, with the players they've lost, the budget they have and the restrictions of having a fan owned club and how competitive they've been. Like, it's interesting to note that the professional betting market, Sligo, are nearly always outsiders, yet they somehow have managed to beat Shamrock Rovers.

Sligo's Unexpected Victories and Team Dynamics

They beat Shamrock Rovers, Pats and shells, I think, in a kind of a rough and bows rough enough spell together every year. And lost Pineapple. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I even. I watched them actually, against Celtic the other night and I think that'll do them no harm. I think they kind of lost the game, but they played with a bit of confidence for us and they'll feel like. They'll feel like that's a bit of a free hit against Derry. And Derry now are massively under pressure because I do feel tonight was, even though I don't think Derry played badly, but tonight was two points dropped and the mood around the Brandywell again and be like, okay, what's happening here?

The Importance of Upcoming Matches for Derry

But do you not think, Johnny, just on your point of, like, duffer, like, for me, I know if shells did manage to pull this back around, and I'll give you a reason in a minute, why I think they actually do still stand the chance pulling the background. If Shells won the league, Duffer absolutely has to be manager, leader. Why does Sly go for the second? Well, they won't. I don't. What if they did throw it back. At me at the end? If they do? But I don't see that happening in a million years, to be honest with you.

Derry's Crucial Match Perspectives

I think Monday's massive. Shane for Derry. If. If they don't win, like, even if it's a draw, I. I don't. Like. I don't think I'd be good enough. And you need. At least, I was saying, out of these two games, you know, you need a minimum of four points just to be there. Because I think they need the six at this stage, Aidan, because I think the paths one max, I can see we haven't. Out of the three games against Sligo, we haven't bitten Sligo this season yet. We've drawn twice and they put us down the shogunt.

Anxiety Around Performance Against Sligo

But, yeah, it's funny as well, the point. Sorry, Shane. Yeah, and I suppose the point I'd be making, even if they stutter and stumble their way to get over the line, like, again, you have to go back to the start of the season. Shells were not in the top four in the betting to win league title. If they win a league title from outside the top four in the betting, that is an absolutely remarkable achievement. Oh, no. Throwing the loss of Malloy and Jarvis on top of that.

Sligo's Unexpected Success Stories

I mean, it would 100%. And, like, they. You know, they maximize their quality. Like, they'd only lost four games for a lot of the season. And I'm slightly playing devil's advocate. I'm just saying, like, what. What Sligo Rovers and John Russell have done. Like, it's not. It's not remotely like to get players to play for Sligo Rovers versus playing in Dublin for Damian Duff. It's so difficult, like. And I don't know how he's pulled. Like, I think his recruitment has improved massively since the start.

Final Considerations and Team Morale

He's met. Probably made a couple of mistakes, but, like, I don't know, going into the last, I think Pats are bang there now at the moment, for me, shells, the fact that they've never been in this position before and even the management haven't been in this position before together, I think mentally it will be tough because I don't think first, by the way, I don't think in any sense that shells have bottled it. I just think they've. They've gone on a run of form that was over the course of the season. 54 points from 33 is still good going.

Analysis of Recent Performances

I just feel that they've, you know, like even the night against Pats like should they perform miracles to get it back to all in that game. But at the moment, you know, you'd no confidence in getting that in talent. They were well second best in that game and they're playing like a mid table team at the moment, which is pretty much what they are. The fact is that they had a run on other teams that were disappointing. But like at the moment, like Pats have scored 15 goals in five games and I'm not confident of Pat's been.

Pats Potential to Overcome Current Challenges

I could easily see Pats win their last four games and make it very interesting. I agree on the Pats part of it. I just don't know if the rest will drop enough points for pats to make up that ground. Like the big one for me around shells is when you look at that last game and you're thinking oh my God, it's slipping away. It's slipping away. It's slipping away. If. If there was two things in the world that Damian Duff would have asked for after that game, it's. Give us a break. He's got it. Twelve days. Twelve days before his next game.

Seeking a Competitive Edge

From his last game to his next game. If ever a team needed a twelve day break, it's that shells one. And I think that could massively revitalize them and give him the bit of breathing space they need to replenish energy levels and have one last push. And then the other thing that I think falls seriously into their favor is, let's be honest. What, what do you want at this stage of the season? You want to be playing against the team who have nothing to fight for. Home to Waterford is a dream fixture.

Perspective on Key Matches

I mean, that's what I was saying for Derry. Like, for Derry as well. Like if you're playing against Shelburne at last game of the season, you wanted to be down to a point where it's like you don't want they like, of course you want it to be a must. You know, like a must win, but you don't want it to be a. To be at a point where you want shells where they have to also go for it. Like shells is hard enough at times they break down. Never mind where if it's, you know, a draw is good enough for them. Yeah, yeah.

Concluding Remarks on League Performance

Couldn't agree more. And that's. That's why I would just love that permutation to work out. 58 two teams and 58 shells on. Knowing that a draw is probably not good enough for me for overs win that's dreamland stuff for everybody watching us. Neutral from. Not, not that. Not that there'll be too many neutrals that night if it does play out like that way. But, it would be dreamland stuff. Aiden, we'll let you go. So thanks so much for jumping on tonight.

Closing Statements

I know. No worries. Appreciate it. No problem at all. And you are listening to League of Ireland late night in association with 888 Ireland, 18 plus. Please gamble responsibly.

Gambling Care

See, gambling care, that is. I see Seagull chat is waiting in the wing, so we'll come to him in a second. But just one on, I suppose. Rory Higgins. Shane, like we did see a couple of weeks ago after the shells win in the cup and the draw at Rovers, this kind of siege mentality emerging. And it's not. It sounded like it was an attempt, a message to the players to fortify themselves as they went in for the final run in. And he's tried a few different things and has been accused of not being maybe up to the emotional pitch needed to motivate his players to finally get over the line in the final run in. So results like tonight and results like the one down Andrade must be incredibly deflating for him because it seems like he's tried every trick in the book at this stage.

Rory's Character

Listen, a couple of things on Rory, right? I was lucky enough that I got to know Rory reasonably well when I was at Dundalk before he left. He's, as a person, first and foremost, as a person, I couldn't speak highly enough of him. He was. He was. Of all the people, when I landed into Dundalk, he was probably the most welcoming. He was. He was trying to get faith at the same time. My first week with Dundalk, believe it or not, was actually out in Portugal on a training camp, and Higgs was. Higgs was trying to get fit at the time, so he was doing a bit of. A bit of running. I was a small bit on that front myself, so the tubes were going out for regular runs and that. And he's just a brilliant fella to talk to. And I think you saw it again this week.

Players Praise

I'm trying to think who was interviewed. Look, I know players always have to say the right thing about their manager, but sometimes players go above and beyond when they're talking about the manager, and you take yourself well, that's not usual player speak. That's not, you know, that's not just throwing the general praise at a manager that you have to be so that you can maintain yourself at the start eleven. Sometimes players absolutely go out their way to go over the top to really hammer home how much they believe in that manager and that setup. And that's regularly happened with the Derry players, regularly happening with the Derry players. I can tell you now there might be people on the outside who maybe doubt whether Rory is the right man or not, but there is nobody, I honestly believe there is nobody on the inside a Derry who doesn't think he is the right man.

Fine Margins

And I think that will work in his favor. The other thing here, like, it's just absolute madness how fine the margins are. Cameron. I mean, we're talking about a manager here who, depending on how the next three weeks go, if he finishes the season trophy less, they will be calling for his head. He also potentially could finish the season as a league and cup double winner and heralded as one of the greats and potentially kick on and become an all-time great Derry city manager. That is madness. That is madness how fine the margins are here. One other thing as well, which needs to be said, and often it's kind of forgotten about.

Personal Struggles

It might have been Kieran Kahlo you were on about there, Shane. And maybe from an interview I did with him, like, Rory Higgins. Has Rory Higgins lost his brother not that long ago, right. And I know that absolutely devastated him. Like, devastated the family who was basically like, sounds like he was kind of his hero in life and died totally unexpected at the age that he was at. Stephen Bradley, on the other hand, has to deal with the sickness that his son had. And these things have to affect you as well in work. And I know that they put. Puts a context on it and all of that. But, like, you have to give these guys a little bit of a break in terms of the devastation that he's had to deal with in his personal life and he's lost, like, you know, various managers have come and gone, assistant managers, well, notably Alan Reynolds.

Pressure to Perform

So there's been kind of upheaval there. And like, I do firmly believe in him as a manager. But don't lose sight of how hard it would be to go back to football after losing, like, Paul's effectively his hero, namely his brother, for sure. Yeah, it's definitely worth bearing in mind. Absolutely. We will move on to first division chat with Siegel. Chatter Usual check in with all things bray. Good evening, Siegel. How are you doing? Good evening. I've just wiped my ass because I've been shitting myself that entire match. God. Another cracker at the Carlisle.

Match Reflections

I don't know what it says about where my life is at the moment. That when I saw that Shane Griffin had equalized, you were actually the first person I thought of. That doesn't say a whole lot about. Not a great hindu indictment of me at the moment, but that's a huge goal. Seagull. Like, like if. If Hearts win that game, it's a serious, serious squeaky boom time for years, whether you can hold on to that last spot. But that goal, I imagine it's enough day. Like, look strong. Now, if Harps won that game, then they just have to win a win on Monday and win on Friday and they finish in the last spot ahead of us.

Game Dynamics

Now, though, it's still in our hands. It was a classic must win game where things are just going wrong left, right and center. I think they scored their only two shots on target, Harps. But weren't very particularly comfortable on the ball. You could see the players were struggling. I will give a huge shout out, though, because Harps had a bit of a goalkeeping crisis. So they had under, their under 17s player, Oshin Kuni in goal and he was. Listen, he made a big mistake for our first goal, but he made some fantastic saves. Otherwise. There was one where it took a last minute deflect. A shot of ours took a last minute deflection.

Keepers Performance

And he was honored when you would expect most premier division goalkeepers to not be able to save us. So, no, he was. I think. I think he's 17. I can't remember if he's 17 or 16. I think he's 17. But he was fantastic tonight and he was well and truly thrown into the deep end because our strategy tonight was to just lob balls at him left, right and center. Yeah, no, I'm looking here. He's a young boy. All right, so he is. Yeah, look, it's. It shows. What have we got between the top four now?

Top Four Standings

It's our. Sorry. Well, when I say top four, I mean second to fifth, obviously. Four points. Four points between Bray in fifth and UCD in second. So I think, like you look at last year, we probably managed to make a better fist of it ourselves at Ramblers than most people thought we would against Waterford, taking them extra time and it being quite tight. But let's be honest, when those playoffs started, everybody was saying anything other than a Waterford or anybody other than what to come. Truly, these playoffs is a non event. Like they were absolutely nailed on to come true.

Unpredictable Playoffs

It couldn't be more different this year. Could not be more different. If anybody is able to say with any level of certainty which one of those four teams is going to win the playoffs, they're lying to you. They're absolutely lying to you because there is nothing like, I honestly think if any two of those four teams played each other ten times, you're going to get three wins piece and four draws. So it literally just depends on what combination of results comes out on the day over those games. And I think that's going to be great. You can argue all you want, Johnny, that whoever it is will end up losing to draw it anyway.

Complex Scenarios

But it's not always as straightforward as that. First of all, it might not necessarily certainly be draw. That should be slightly like if I'm both a little bit worried but like do you. I mean even so, Shane, like drugs and Wexford, like Wexford created very good chances against drawer. And like if you go in there say if it's UCD, it's Wexford, even if it's Ray or whatever like bows have actually bows I think played UCD in the cup and beat them, like. So there's a bit of a, well UCD can know a bit about them there but like you've gone into that game, everyone expects you to win.

Pressure on Teams

If it's bows, there's unbelievable pressure on you because it's like, well basically you'll get sacked if you lose this and draw out. I wouldn't be quite like that, but in a one off game and I know like everyone be expecting the premier Division team to win. It's not as straightforward as that. And like, again, that, like the premier Division apart from take corkscity vote with four points between second and fifth.

Impressive Standings

Like that is incredible. Yeah, yeah. I mean, no, I will say the most boring outcome and I think the most likely outcome would be UCD getting to the. Going through the playoffs and playing whoever it is because when you look at, yeah, they're on their level on points in second, but actually all the points they've dropped have been draws and in they. And in a, you know, in a playoff situation that goes to extra time and you know, UCD, they've, you know, long been the team that grind out sort of boring but essential one or two, one victories.

Future Betting

So I mean, my money would still firmly be on them because I mean the other three teams presuming Bray get to the are the last playoff team which I'm 90% sure that we will be. The other of us, we have our days and then we have our off days. And UCD, I think, have the best record against all three of us. I think when it comes to heads between us, yeah. And look, they're probably like, the difference with the UCD is I go through that UCD start lineup and there's a lot of young talent there.

Youthful Talent

It's probably well spread across the team. Very little to no household names yet, but yet a few players in there who typically UCD could potentially go on to be household names. But I don't see, like absolute standout players. Whereas you look at yourselves, right? Who, who in your current team is premier division quality? I would say I would make an argument for Max Murphy. I'd make an argument for Killian, Cantwell, Magoorson. If I was bottom half of the premier Division side, I'd take a chance on him and Shane Griffin.

Potential Transfers

Okay, if I'm looking. If I'm looking at Wexford, definitely dobbs for me, definitely 100%. Ethan Boyle has a huge amount of premier Division experience. Thomas Alua definitely has the raw ability for it. Mikey Raw did a brilliant job for me. You know, again, there's three, four players that you can kind of immediately jump to there. And likewise with Athlone. Likewise with Athlone. I long been a massive fan of Aaron Connelly. I can't understand how a Baker club has never come in for him.

Player Evaluations

Dean Ebbe's done a right good job. Leo Gaxa, Johnny, you've seen he always looks like he has the potential to be. To be, you know, somebody who can change a game for you. Van Yen. And obviously I've raved about a few times here, like there's, you know, there's. There's a scattering of premier division standard players amongst each one of those teams that for me, you know, I think, you know, I don't think it is a foregone conclusion. Of course you would make.

Drawing Stakes

I do think it'll be. Draw it. I agree with you, Johnny. It's not done and dusted, but I do think it'll redraw that. And if that's the case, I do think there'll be favorites, but I don't think it's. I don't think it's a non event like. No, no, and listen, when you look at. Listen, UCD, they're the team everyone hates to play. So, I mean, I actually think it looks like where Bray are going to play UCD in the playoffs if the current table stands.

Team Comparisons

And I actually think in our last ten games, across all competitions, Bray have a better record against Shamrock Rovers than we do against UCD. And we've been in the same league as UCD for far more of the last. Last couple of years then with Rovers. But no, I mean, I'd listen in current form, I'd say. I mean, the thing with Wexford is Wexford are reliant on three players who I think would be at the. Who would be, except should next season be in one of the top teams in the premier division.

Team Strategies

They're reliant on about three or four of those players to get them done and when they lost, they went and they had a bad mid season, dip in the middle this season when they. When they were without Dobbs for a good few games. So they're. They are again. That's the thing. So they're not the reason the other three teams, the reason why they're so exciting is because they're not particularly balanced. So they go. They go from being shite to action to playing in first division. Sorry, Premier Division, standard football, you know, in comparison to the actual Premier division where it seems everyone's just doing their best to be bang.

Average Performances

Average. But no, it's. I mean, I was. Again, listen, if I was a betting man, I'd still go with UCD to at least get there. And again, UCD beyond one of the most frustrating teams. But no, it'll be. It'll be a really exciting. If Finn Harps beat Waxford, which I hope they don't. If in Arfs being waxed on Monday, then it'll be. It'll be a really exciting game. Game day in a week's time.

Upcoming Matches

I think we'll just need a point against Cove. Whatever the. Whatever the. Whatever happens on. On Monday. I think. I think I did mention to you, Johnny, did I, that I had. I did do UCD in the betting without Cork City market at the start of the season. There you go. I didn't even know. There's a matter. No, they're not. They're not quite. They're not quite there yet, but their last game is at home to Longford, so you'd imagine they are.

Longford and Promotion

They are probably going to. Gonna seal second position there. The other one here. Interestingly, I don't know if anybody noticed, is that the promotion relegation game? Is it two legs or one? I'm trying to think back to the first round is two. Two legs. Then the final round between the top to the winner of the first division is a one round and then the match against the Premier Division side is also a one round game.

Game Structure

One round. That one round game I'm pretty sure is down for the FAA cup final weekend. Oh, can't, obviously, can't happen if Instrada. Yeah, I think it is down for that. Yeah, exactly. So there's going to have to be something. There's going to have to be announcement fairly shortly. Once it's confirmed, that'll be a disaster. I mean, asking Droghida to prepare for potentially one of their finest nights whilst also asking them to survive in the division.

Scheduling Challenges

Well, I assume the FA cup final can't be moved, so I assume it's the playoff game that gets moved. So you're protecting even then. That means Strokada will be, will have a tired team playing against a team that would potentially have two or three weeks of rest. There you are. You're surely happy enough with that oakland if it's he. Yeah, yeah. Well, no, I'll be happy if it's us.

Final Thoughts

Not I won't be happy if it's a certain purple and gold team, but. All right, Siegel, we'll let you go. Thanks so much for jumping on tonight anyway. Cheers, lads. Thanks, Amel. We will get the perspective from talk of park and drum condor now because Dwayne Doyle, I believe is a shot, is a shells fan, is just joining around now. Hopefully we can get to him. Just connecting here for me. Yeah, that first division picture.

Dwayne's Insights

Very interesting, Johnny. I mean, like, it does feel like we did have Athlone looking like they could be difficult. I might go to Dwayne Doyle before we jump on that one. Good evening, Dwayne. Hey, lads, how you keeping? Oh, good. I just wanted touch on that point that Johnny made earlier. I don't agree with Johnny very often, but I realized that John Russell's doing a great job at slow ego.

Evaluating John Russell

losing, Fabrice, Hartman pointer and Matt take them out of any team, their struggle. It's like taking Jarvis and Malloy and Lonnie of our team at the minute and we're struggling. So I think John rubble has to be applauded. He's done a great job at Sligo. Don't think he deserves mandatory air. Why did I feel like that was coming? Yeah. If Sligo Rovers win their game in hand, they're four points behind Shelburne.

Sligo's Performance

Now. For me, see, it's like, as Shane says, it all comes down fine margins, but ultimately, like the job John Russell has done. Sligo Rovers being three points off Shelburne is better than Shelburne being three points ahead of Sligo Rovers, for argument's sake, at this stage of the season, if you were to say after 33 games, who would you give the manager of the year to? If Shells are three points ahead of Sligo, with the resources John Russell had and the players that he lost, I think he's done an amazing job.

League Standings and Playoff Contention

Yeah, but top of the league doesn't matter at all until the end of the season. Yeah, so. So shells were 6th and slug number seven and shells are three points ahead slowly. Yeah. No, I feel if Shells win the league, Duffer will win it and all of that, but I'm like, the john. Deserves to win it now. Huh? He deserves to win. If. He deserves to win now. If Sligo Rovers 22nd, I'd give it to John Russell. Duff has the fifth biggest budget in the league and dove wins the league. Come on, Johnny. Come on. No, compared to Dublin, like, it's very. It's very difficult to get players to clubs in the west of Ireland. Johnny, Gavin Malloy is playing. He's top of the league in the SPL, playing every game for Aberdeen. Will Jarvis out there having like 13 goal contributions or shell before he left and they're telling me to deserve managers give it over. If Sligo Rovers finished second, I'd give to John Russell 100%.

Managerial Decisions and Team Performance

100%. Johnny, go sleepy. I baby there with you. Yeah, he's upstairs, actually. Yeah, yeah. You want. I do feel, though, like he's done. He's done an unbelievable job. No, I agree. And I agree that John Russell's doing a great job, but to have that comparison between dove having the fist fifth biggest was in the league. I know the two best players, not in shells team, but the league's best players. They'Ve the fifth biggest budget. They could conceivably finish fourth. Like they actually called shells. Yeah, but that's. Yeah, but that's where Shells will finish. Yeah, that's where Shells will finish. Where we finished last year, Shells will finish fourth, based on. On our budget and with the way we're playing at the minute. But obviously Duff is doing better than he should be with the players that we have at disposal.

Derry City’s Performance and Comparison

Yeah, I would say. I would say a little bit better, but, like, they're doing the same as they did last season points wise. Yeah, but obviously the league is deteriorating, but Rovers underperforming very. I don't know how Higgins is still a job with dirty, to be honest with you, like, he's had two poor years of dirty and this year has been awful with it, with the squad they have and the budget they have. I think he's done an awful job like Stephen Bradley has to deal with Europe and everything and gone for four in a row. Has had different pressures with that. I just think Higgins shouldn't be in the job at dirty, the way he's going on. But to end, there's a head of a chance. There's a head of a chance Rory Higgins could end up a double winner.

Underperformance and Future Prospects

No, I agree with that. But at the moment his teams are underperforming and they shouldn't actually be where they are. But this is. Everyone just talks about the lead the way it is now, it's a mad league. And the way Derry are at the minute and they can go for a double is fucking madness. All right? They've had desperately tough draw. Draws in the cup like. They beat Pat Streen ill. I will give them in the cup. They've been excellent. For whatever reason. They've been excellent in the cup. Yeah, yeah. But the league have been awful. Well, defense logo on Monday and they haven't been sold all year.

Evaluating Player Transfers and Team Morale

All right, twin, we'll let you go. So thanks a million for jumping on. No problem. Cheers. They're like Jerry Springer there. Cameron trying to jump in. Yeah, absolutely. It's time out. Play him out, you know. You know Shane, though, like, to attract a player to Sligo in the west of Ireland in a place nobody's ever heard of, or you're Damian Duff. Let's come to Dublin and play for me like John Russell has way more barriers to attracting players than Damian Duff and it's as simple as that. And he's also on a lesser budget. Listen, Johnny, you don't have to tell me about it.

Challenges of Recruitment and Market Dynamics

I spent half my Galway career on daft ie, trying to find fucking cheap accommodation for players to come across that. So I know exactly what you're talking about there. Well, there you go. And it's a tip to anyone listening tonight. All you have to do is say you agree with Johnny and then you can go on a huge round about how you don't agree with Johnny. We'll give the last word here to Paul O'Toole, who I believe is a Waterford supporter. Good evening, Paul. How are you doing, lads? How you keeping? Are you a Waterford fan? I am, yeah.

Match Insights and Reflections on the Season

I was at RSC tonight. Far from my classic. Yeah, well, far from a classic, but I suppose it kind of stops the rot a little bit. It was one winning six for you guys in all competitions. And I draw it home to a team who, after Potts, are the best team in the league in terms of form at the moment and must be. You must take some crumbs of comfort from that. Shirley. Yeah, I suppose it's just maybe a reflection of the frustration at how the season has petered out. And as you were kind of saying earlier on, we're the. We're probably the only team in the league now, maybe with absolutely kind of nothing to play for and we're going to be the team now that everybody wants to play, but we're going to have a say in the title race because we still have to go to Shelburne and Shamrock Rovers.

Identifying Areas for Improvement

What's led to the drop off in form? Paul? I think it's similar to what you were talking about there with Shelburne. Shane, to the mean kind of. Yeah, exactly. We were overachieving probably three or four places above where we should have been and I think we've just reverted to probably what were meant to do. I do think that we've made a few errors with. Since the break, with the team selection. I think we changed it around a little bit and gone away from the players that got us into the position. We obviously brought in different players. We brought in a lot of kind of unknown players that haven't really contributed from the UK.

Reflections on Team Dynamics

That didn't really help us. If you look at kind of galway, they brought in Cunningham and Keohan during the summer and they've kind of kicked on with their experience. Obviously we have a different model to them, but we just brought in players that maybe we hoped would kick us on and kind of give us a bit more strength and depth and that hasn't happened. longer's done. Longer's done. Like, Watford have won the same amount of games as Derry City. Like, literally the same amount of games. They've had a great season. Yeah, we have. Look, we've bus. We probably still will end up like, I'm thrilled with the season, but again, it's probably just when you're looking at, like, we played g a couple of weeks ago, Johnny, like, it could have been so different if I'm in the scores, the penalty, maybe you don't come back and we're probably up still around it, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Future Needs and Player Strategy

Who would you like, who would. Who would you like to see longer go after? Is there anybody or is there an area to field or is there a player or two, Paul, at all that you'd be looking around and going, that's we. That's who we should be trying to get in to help us kick on. Yeah, well, maybe not a player, so to speak, Shane, but I do think we need a dominant center half, maybe an experienced head around the league. But as I was saying, like, kind of following on from your discussion, how do you get them to. To come down to wad for? Maybe they've seen the season we've had now and it might be a bit more of an attractive prospect, but yeah, a dominant centre half.

Evaluating Current Players and Future Prospects

I think Dara Lee, he now has done well all season playing centre half, but I just think that a player maybe with a presence and experienced kind of head would help us out. Like, I think he long kind of was. He. He gave a good interview, actually, a couple of weeks ago after we lost to Galway. Like, Galway are like complete bogey team there. They just are able to bully us constantly and he was kind of questioning the character of the team a couple of weeks ago. So I just think that we have a lot of good footballers and we play nice football, but when the team kind of puts it on us, we kind of lack that maybe leader to go and be dominant in the box and win his headers and stuff.

Team Structure and Fan Engagement

So a good center half. Shane boss, again with the model that we have. Obviously, I was just. Yeah, I was just going to say on the model, how do you feel that's working? Like, how have the boys that have say, have you, Manny, across from Fleetwood at the moment? How have they done? You know, do you feel that side of things? Is that connection working for you? Yeah, it is working for us. Like we've had you. You would have seen last year, like Barry Bagley, obviously. Obviously you're still around there. We got Glenfield there in the summer as well. And like it is, it's a good connection.

Player Development and Future Strategy

But again, you kind of need a little bit of both, Shane. I just think that we do need that a bit more of an experienced league of earned heads that will kind of get that balance right. I think we're just a little bit, kind of weak at different times, like around that and I think that's kind of caught up with us in the end. But, yeah, definitely that centre half, I think, is what we would need to kind of kick on. But it'll be interesting to see who he keeps keeps around and what he kind of tries to do going into next season because, like, you see how competitive it is and like, I'm sure next season when people look at the strength of the division with car coming up, I'm sure we'll be tipped to be down kind of in the bottom three or four again.

Feasibility of Player Acquisition

Could you splash out enough to bring Paddy home? Paddy Barrett? I'd say. I'd say he's. I'd say we'd be struggling to maybe to, To compete with the way just the Duffer maybe can offer him. I know you're on about Duffer's budget order on, but I still don't know if we'd. It's an option. I'd say it's not a bad show, but yeah, it's. It's still difficult to get them down here. Yeah. Outside of that, I'm just trying to think of the locality just when you were talking about it.

Possible Player Replacements

Outside of that, is. Is killing Cantwell worth another gold? You know, you're trying to see who is. Who is close to home that could. Could potentially be brought in, you know? Yeah, absolutely. You're looking for that connection. That's like I was saying that Cunningham coming back to play with Galway, obviously he has that connection. He just wanted to come home. Obviously. We got Eddie Nolan back a couple of seasons ago to play and I'm not sure if there's any of them kind of heads around, but they're the kind of people that we'd be looking to get back around to play Shane that I think could.

Importance of Local Talent

Could help out. Like, we have good young players there and the likes of Dara Power who's. Who's done very well. And obviously we still have like people like Noel O'Keeffe around the place that are from Wadford and keep that core. That's important to us as well. I think that is important to keep that even with the fan base, to have that kind of connection with the players, not just to be. To be reliant on the Fleetwood kind of model, as I like to call it. But no, I think just a balance in that and I think we'd be fine. But we've had a good season overall.

Fan Attendance and Community Engagement

It's just a little bit frustrating for the fans. I do think it is a little bit disappointing as well, Shane, with the kind of crowds that we've been getting, like we've had, we've been the wrong side. Kind of just 2000 there tonight again, which is not. It's not. It's not fantastic, like. And even when we're going well there six weeks ago, weren't getting 3000 in the ground, which is not. It's not great. Now I have to say from the. Kind of public and yeah you see you're better off. It's always the way isn't it?

Season Performance Reflection

Like you're actually, you're actually better off having a poor first half of the season and good second half of the season really. Like if you're going to finish you'd have been, there'd be a completely different view on how the season had gone if he'd actually had a poor first half of the season, been in and around relegations on and then went on a good run to get you to your current league position rather than the opposite way around, isn't it? Yeah, absolutely. And I suppose we had that bounce from the first division last year winning a lot of the games and I suppose there was a lot of season tickets sold kind of on the base of that.

Comparative Successes and Community Support

Like people had a bit of momentum behind it and obviously that carried on at the start. We had a few great results but I just look, I compare us to kind of Galway there in terms of like the regions and obviously we both came up last year but you kind of see the bounce that Galway have now and the kind of their games seem to be generating. The public seem to be getting behind the team. Like I know they're still in around more than we are but I just think that we could have got a bit more back and behind the team when were going well which it doesn't kind of bode well for next season if we want to be sustainable.

Season Conclusion and Future Outlook

You know it's easy, it's, it's a fine line between like where we get a point tonight to guarantee you staying up and like you know if this run had have started later on and we got sucked down the league, like you kind of want that core following there all the time, Shane. Like you don't want to fall away just because we're not kind of competing at the top end. Absolutely. Come here. I'm gone into full on scout mode for you here at the moment. This one's probably outreach for another year or two but where I'm just actually scratching my head trying to think where is Derek now?
